Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun for kids Big Kids love it too, the instructions are clear and easy to follow, my kids (age 13&14) do everything without my hand. I choose the heavy whipped cream (there are plenty of options in manual, half-n-half or milk will take longer time) and we used sea salt becuade we cannot find the rock salt. Kids roll the ball for total 30 minutes (ice melted and we refill the ice and salt for 10-minute-mark at 20 mins, then roll for another 10 minutes). Result come out pretty good, the top center still look and feel soft, the rest are firm and creamy! We only put cream and sugar, didn't add any other flavor, it tastes really good already.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well Works well for making a pint of ice cream. I go about 5 minutes longer for a firmer ice cream than what the directions call for (20 minutes). When scraping the side of the container halfway through a strong handled spoon is needed as a simple wooden spoon with a 3/8" diameter handle snapped pretty easily. An easier way to scrape the ice cream from the side at the halfway point would be nice but otherwise this product works well. You can not throw it or bounce it as it has a hard plastic she'll under the rubber skin. But rolling it across the ground or other surface (picnic table) works well as does simply tossing it around by oneself. All that is needed for great basic ice cream is heavy whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla, along with the ice and ice cream salt orb rock salt (available in most grocery stores).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the purchase! We brought this camping with us and our 4 other friends and had a blast (not to mention a great work out) making ice cream. The ice cream was delicious and had a great texture. I would highly recommend the ball for families or groups as a fun and very rewarding activity!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A big hit with our family Our daughters LOVE making ice cream in the ball every camping trip! We use a pint of half & half and premix it with the vanilla and sugar in a Nalgene, so it's all ready to go at the campsite. Be sure to follow the instructions on scraping down the ice cream half way through the freezing. We find that a heavy duty silicon scoop/spatula works well. We forgot to do so once and ended up with ice cream so solidly frozen along the sides that we couldn't scoop it and half frozen mush in the center. Scraping down and stirring half way through results in a nicely frozen dessert. Our kids usually work on rolling the ice cream during the last 20 minutes of dinner prep and then we let the ball sit and "ripen" while we eat. The ice cream will freeze a bit more solidly during the sitting time and is usually perfect by the time we are done with our meal. My only criticism is that we do get a little bit of leakage even tightening down the lids. Great fun and a nice treat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised I was a little skeptical at first I must admit but this actually works and we had so much fun making it. Make no mistake you will get 20 minutes of exercise but the end product is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great family fun for the holidays Bought this for our adult family for Christmas and we had a blast making ice cream as a group activity. We kicked the ball around for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through using a wooden spoon (recommended in a previous review) then placed the ice cream in a plastic container in the freezer. Ice cream was delicious and we got some excercising in to boot! FYI, the ice cream stayed in its creamy consistency when we finally ate it after our dinner.
