Comfortable, cozy fit.
This cap is made of a breathable 50% wool / 50% polyester mix which should make it easy to care for and wash. The fabric seems sturdy. The thin profile will allow the cap to fit under the hood of a jacket. It has a soft inner lining around the area where contact is made, which makes it very comfortable on the forehead. Cool Arcteryz skeleton design on the cap. The color is a muted yellow, that pairs well with my gear. Very snug fit. My hair is flat, if my hair was was curly and thicker, it would not fit. I pulled on it to stretch it out, but it is still a tight fit on my head. I received this product in return for a product review.
My puppy loves this toque
My Shiba Inu stole my brand new toque, he won’t give it back.
Poor Quality
The threads unravel very easily on these beanies, you only have to look at them and the threads start becoming loose, especially around the graphics and logo. The beanie is also small fitting.
Hi there. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the Bird Head Toque. We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the fit and quality. We appreciate your comments and we will make sure to pass them to our team.
Perfect Mountain Hat
When I first received this toque I immediately noticed that it felt soft yet durable and the color is a gorgeous warm yellow true to the online photos. It matches with all of my other Arc’teryx gear. The best part of this toque is the soft fleece band on the interior that covers my ears and forehead keeping them warm but allows some venting through the top of the toque. Normally with most winter hats I overheat and sweat on the top of my head so I was excited to take this one out in the mountains to see how it performs. I went out this weekend to bag a couple of peaks in the early Alaska snow and took this toque with me. Just as I had hoped for, this toque excels in high output uphill travel in cold weather. It keeps the head and ears warm but allows some airflow up top as to not overheat. I also appreciate the fit, it holds firmly and doesn’t move around when I frequently move my hoods up and down throughout the day. On top of everything it’s super lightweight so it’s a no brainer to throw in my bag when heading out to the mountains. Hands down the best toque I have ever owned and will be accompanying me on many adventures to come.
My New Favorite Beanie
From the moment I tried one of these Bird Head Toques on, I knew this would be my favorite beanie. I own lots of beanies, but this is by far the most comfortable. I shave my head bald so finding a beanie that isn't itchy, doesn't come down over my eyes, or have seams that bug me is rare. The fleece band makes it feel soft on your ears and actually blocks some wind. The top breathes well, so when you work up a sweat, it vents out of the top. I love all the color choices - the Nighthawk/Rooibos is perhaps my favorite. The fit is snug, but I wouldn't call it too tight. Most of my wool blend beanies are stretched out and don't fit snug, but not my Bird Head! Great product, I plan on ordering more sizes!
keeps the noggin toasty and 'fro flat
Some women collect shoes. I collect hats. I purchased this one because 1) Arc'teryx quality and 2) yes, purple is my new favorite color. It's snug and covers my ears, which is great for helping keep my earbuds from bouncing out when I run. I've also used it in the backcountry, the first skin up the mountain on cold days before putting my helmet on to ski down. I can wad it up, throw it in my backpack and it takes minimal space. Yep, this is my new favorite hat.
Cozy and stylish
I already love this hat. My wife loves it on me (she hated my previous hat😆). My daughter said it looks good on me. And the most important I like that this beanie doesn't slide off of my head. Material inside is like felt, soft and warm. It will be with me on a lot of hikes. In fact I went in it above 8000 feet and beanie kept me warm.
tight fit, color doesn't match pics
I love my dead bird products - I generally have at least one on at all times, sometimes 3-4 because they're versatile & durable & so, even if "pricy", of good value. This is the first real complaint I've had - 1.) the color of the product received does not match marketing pictures (it's not a bad color, but not what I was hoping for/thought I was buying), and I understand that color is affected by the device displayed on, but I'd expect the color in marketing pics to be closer to true 2.) as another reviewer posted, the fit is tight. I've noticed I'm getting a headache when I wear it, it's that tight, so I've stopped wearing it & switched to another toque (and I wouldn't say my head is unusually large but others may say that's just my ego talking ;)
Good hat for cool/cold weather activities
Overall I'm very happy with this beanie! I was very intrigued by the mix of poly and merino wool in the description. There is a nice soft fleece lining around the lower half of the beanie which does an excellent job of keeping your ears warm. While the top half of the half is just the poly-wool knit material, which allows the hat to vent heat during activities. Thus far I have comfortably worn this from the low 50's down into the high 20's while hiking and paddling my kayak. It does run a little small though so those of you with a hat size larger than 7.5in may find it too tight.
Toque Beanie
I told my girlfriend I wanted this for Christmas and the great girlfriend she is she got it for me. I love merino wool and I'm a believer in this brand. (Although a bit overpriced in my opinion) This beanie fits well enough to completely cover the ears and is thick enough to help block wind. Seems to be pretty durable in what is now its second winter. The logo is pretty big on the front so you may feel a bit like a walking billboard except that most people don't know the brand anyway and the logo is cool in my opinion) All in all a great beanie that I would recommend to anyone with a little extra cash looking to stay warm.
