Rear Dropout Broke
This is actually a great bike. I purchased this back in July 2017. Fenders and rack are a plus. Only upgrades made were to the pedals and saddle. I also picked up 2 rear lights and a tactical light for the front. Make sure you pick up a couple of chains, tubes and patches depending on your frequency of riding. Great fitness bike when combined with a healthy lifestyle. Heartbreak was when I was removing rear wheel from dropouts. See attached pictures. Dropouts broke/cracked off the frame. Short of 3 years with the bike. Anyone know how this happens because I have no idea. Bike was ridden solely on concrete and asphalt. I have managed to get a loner bike from a friend. Hopefully REI will be opening soon. If I'm not mistaken this bike frame has a lifetime warranty? Would love to hear back from REI on this.
GREAT bike!
I've had this bike for a couple years now - thought I already gave a review but I guess not. I have well over 3,000 commuter miles on it and it is still ROCKING! I got a pair of waterproof panniers that fit on the built-in rack perfectly. The only complaint/issue, as minor as it is, is the kickstand mounting hardware has come loose a couple times. Nothing a little loc-tite won't fix! I expect to have this bike for decades to come and MANY more enjoyable miles on this. Aside from lubricating the chain and patching (dagum goathead thorns!) flats, the bike still rides like new. If you can, give one of these a test ride. It is a GREAT value!
THE urban bike for hilly environs
I bought this bike because my car was in the shop for an extended period, and my old bike, a road bike with drop bars and toe clips, was a real pain for urban commuting and shopping. This bike not only has super-duper hydraulic brakes and a gear range from high to super-low, but it has a very good kick-stand and built-in pannier rack! I love it. Caution: assembly is not complex, but it is not for those who don't know how to use a wrench.
Superb Bike
I have been away from cycling for too long and I bought the Ghost to get back into it. It has all the right stuff for me, hydraulic disc brakes, a great and durable frame, terrific gearing and easy to shift thumb operated shifters, plus fenders. I love it I am back on the bike frequently now and enjoying the rides.
Love my Ghost!
Purchased as a replacement for my stolen Electra (which weighed at least 10 tons). I still can't believe how light this bike weighs - under 30lbs, can carry/lift/move it single handedly. 27 gears on thumb shifters make for easy riding on most grades, very easy riding. Bell, fenders, and rear rack are the cherries on top. Very satisfied with this bike!
Commuting to work is fun
I bought the Ghost Square Urban 2 bike in May as a commuting bicycle. I have ridden it for about 75 miles and have had fun every mile. The shifting is smooth and logical. The bike itself is comfortable to ride and looks great.
Love this bike
Test ride three others first. This bike fit my 5'10" frame so well it was a noticeable difference. Each was adjusted, repressured, by very helpful staff busy as they were. This bike is excellent commuting on daily and it's strength gearing and equal lightness to touring bikes i tested have convinced me to take it on a 1000 mile tour in a few months. And I already have great rattlefree fenders and a rack. The kickstand I removed tho it be a great one...
amazing!
I had been using my mountain bike to commute to work and was exhausted by the time I got there. Switched to this bike and I have cut my time and do not get so tired. It's fun, light, perfect for commuting, very comfortable and easy to use. Just love it!
Huge bike!
Just picked up one of these at my local REI store. I am 6'5" and tested out an XL frame, and it was HUGE! Wound up getting a large and once I dropped the bars and raised the saddle, the geometry is just about perfect for me. Really easy shifting and smooth because of the belt-drive. Looks really, really cool too. Outfitted it with basic panniers/trunk bag and the essential tools and can't wait to hit the trail/road on it!
Great value
I've had my Ghost for 2 weeks and have ridden every day. After years without riding I wanted a comfortable bike that was solid and easy to ride. This fit the bill. Smooth easy gear system. Powerful hydraulic brakes. Fenders and rear rack for making every day commutes a breeze. And 40% off!
