Portable but too thin for Vinyasa
I practice Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga and use the Manduka Pro-lite for everyday use in the shala.TheEko Superlite,I picked to use while travelling. It is extremely portable and relatively very light and looks great too! I can fold it into my bag instead of carrying it rolled separately.I'd recommend it for 1-2 practice days away. Also would recommend to use it with a mat towel. However, I would not recommend it for regular practice or practising on other than wood/carpeted flooring. It not only cinches between jumps, but also feels very hard , especially on the joints and head. Would NOT recommend for Shirsasana fans out there at all.
Excellent travel mat
I love this travel mat so much; it has been a great investment! It folds up to be tiny and is lightweight. I even use it when I have to carry my laptop/ backpack, purse, etc. on the subway and can't carry a 7 or 8 pound mat with everything else on the subway. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no padding. But aside from yoga, this is a nice "separator" between you and public mats at the gym (especially during cold and flu season, it is nice to lay on something that is your own). The colors are beautiful and vibrant, but as other reviewers mentioned, the mat had a distinct rubbery smell to it during the first couple of uses.
Excellent Travel Mat
This foldable mat is just what I was looking for--lots of grip, folds up fairly compact, and way more satisfying to practice on than a towel alone. Other reviews note there's no padding--but duh. That's how it packs up small, but it is a consideration if you need padding to practice comfortably. It occasionally bunches but not bad in my beginner practices. It does have a little rubber smell after being aired out (I expect this to continue to get better with time) so you may want to put it in a separate pocket or away from clothes in case the smell transfers.
Not just for travel!
I bought this mat about 8 months ago and use it almost everyday, and it still looks almost brand new. It gives excellent grip, is non-toxic, and doesn't smell. I looked at several different rubber mats, and while this one does have a faint rubber smell, it's not at all overpowering. I'm really sensitive to chemical smells so that's saying something! I also love that it folds up smaller than a pair of jeans but doesn't get creased, so it lays flat every time. Obviously it doesn't have a lot of padding, so if you have a knee injury you'll have to be careful, but I've gotten to the point where I actually enjoy being able to feel the pressure from the wood floor, which you don't get with a squishy foam mat. I feel a lot more grounded and it can also provide a gentle massage for sore muscles. Definitely worth the money, and I'll be back for another one when this one wears out (though I don't think that will be any time soon!).
Excellent mat for travel
These days I need to stretch and use a foam roller after every workout. My gym provides mats for this purpose, but they smell a little funky if they are due to be replaced. So, I bought a travel mat to carry in my bag, either to lay over one of the gym's mats, or use on its own. For this purpose its perfect. It doesn't weight much and folds reasonably flat, so carrying it is much easier than say a regular weight yoga mat. Its also excellent for taking on a short trip, to use in a hotel room or gym. However, much as I like it, I wouldn't recommend using this mat as a replacement for a more bulky version to take to a yoga class. It offers minimal - ie no! - padding. Its primarily a way to separate you from a grubby floor, and allow you to stretch without slipping. If you are looking to buy a mat to use at a yoga class, you would be better off with a regular mat (I use a Manduka Pro mat, which at $100 is kinda expensive, but well worth the cost).
Travel often? This is the mat for you.
I attend yoga classes when I travel as well as have an active personal practice. I wanted a more portable light mat for travel. This mat fills the bill. I can easily fit in a carry on or line the bottom for your suite case. On the down side, it does provide any cushion for your practice. If you are lucky enough to attend a class that provides mats, this mat makes a wonderful topper. It is sticky and holds well to the ground. I couldn't use the mat for everyday practice as I need the thicker version.
Great travel mat
I love Manduka products and this one is good too. It still slips easily for me, but I hope that will go away as I use it. My Pro Lite mat slipped, but now after months of use is great. If this one turns out the same, this will be the best travel mat you can get, especially if you travel ultra-lightweight (i.e. carry on only) as I do.
Super Grippy and does not smell toxic
I'm very active with sports but a total beginner at yoga. Thought I'd get into yoga with a decent quality mat. One thing that caught my attention that I really like is that this mat is made with no PVC and is non-toxic. It is a very thin mat and maybe not the most ideal for a novice who might need a little more cushion. However, it's non-slip and I like the fact it rolls up super well....and not too pricey.
Folds perfectly for a carry-on suitcase
I bought this for an extended weekend in Florida at my friends house. It fit perfectly in the bottom of my smaller than average carry-on and took up literally no space. And.... it came out of the suitcase with no folds or wrinkles. I used it on her wood deck and it worked great for my morning vinyasa practice. I combated the cushioning problem with more standing poses and less mat work for a couple days. No biggie. The functionality of its travel use very much makes up for it. I was impressed and highly recommend this mat.
Not super lightweight, but durable
The name SuperLite seems a little misleading, as this mat actually weighs exactly the same as my regular thickness yoga mat, a bit more than the stated 2 lbs. It kind of feels like a super-compressed regular mat, with just a touch of foamy give to it. However, it does pack down much smaller, and its nice having the option to fold rather than just roll it. Good for travel, but I definitely need to keep a towel nearby to pad my knees. While I haven't yet given it the test of time, the material feels very durable. Quite sticky! (A little more than I like, actually, as it causes some drag when I don't quite transition between poses perfectly.) Also note that the dark blue color shows dirt very easily.
