Amazing Quality, but very relaxed fit.

Just got one of these, and the quality is fantastic. Just beware that this is sized generously -- great if you're thick or have a bit of a stomach. At 6'1" 175 lbs with 35" arms and 16" neck, every shirt I own is sized L. For this product I had to downsize to a medium. What's amazing is that the sleeves on the medium size were long enough for me. You can see on the models that this fleece comes with pretty long arms. (Most manufacturers specify shorter 32-33" sleeves for medium cuts.) Oddly, I have another thinner Patagonia fleece that was sized perfectly for me as a large (in that case, their sizing was exactly what you'd expect from an Arc'teryx product, which is also a great product and a good fit for me), so don't assume that all Patagonia products are sized the same. Anyway, a great fleece from a great company. What more could you want?

Unbelievable pilling. Worst I have ever seen on a sweater. Started after a week or two. I expect better from Patagonia, especially at a $120 price point. I don't think I'll be buying anything from Patagonia again.

Nice cozy quarter zip

Nice cozy quarter zip sweater. Gave it a 4 star because of the sizing. I had one of these in a medium, and it was rather large and loose. I'm 5'10 and 150 lb, and the medium had a lot of extra room around the neck, waist, and cuffs. Next time around I ordered a small, and it's significantly better, still plenty of length in the arms, and a better fit overall. My only complaint about the small is that it's a little tighter in the shoulders, however I only notice this when putting it on or taking it off. Once I'm wearing it, it's perfect. Great for anything from a hike, to an evening outing or just lounging around home on a cool day.

Lasts Forever

I have had my Better Sweater running on seven + years and it has gotten me through everything. Great for colder hikes, Sunday lounging, fall/ early spring walks. Super easy to maintain and retains shape and size no matter what.

Great item, but runs really big

I own a bunch of clothing from Patagonia and always wear an XL. Bought several of these on sale and they are HUGE. Seem real well made, comfortable, nice colors, just watch the sizing. Trying to decide about exchanges, but most of the colors I had ordered are now out of stock.

Great fit, weight, and appearance

5’11”, 160 lb. Medium size fit perfectly. Love the light weight and fit of this sweater, which is still plenty warm. I have a couple of these sweaters and wear them all the time.

Great feel and fit but

Great feel and fit like always from Patagonia. However, split seam on sleeve after wearing only a few times. Expect more for $.

Soft, professional, and warm

I received this as a birthday gift, and it is super soft and comfy. Wind does penetrate the fabric, so it needs a rain jacket or shell to be warm on the rougher days. I think the tradeoff is worth it, because it's not too warm to wear when you transition indoors. I'm 6'2" 190lbs with longer arms and a Large fits well. A medium had a better shape around the waist, but the sleeves were too tight on my biceps and didn't reach the right length of wrist. I already had a beanie of the same fabric, so I knew what to expect - this is a good midlayer in deep winter, and great on its own in the shoulder seasons. The dark borealis green looks professional enough for an office setting, at least here in Montana!

Reputation for a reason

This is my first Patagonia pullover and I will say it is worth the price. Just finished a walk with my dogs on the first cold morning of the fall (34°). All I had on under it was a t-shirt and stayed warm the whole time. It is super comfortable and feels really well made. The sizes do run big. I am 5'10", 170lbs and the medium is a perfect fit.

Functional but shows wear quickly

This keeps you warm, has good fit, it works, but the fabric shows wear and is covered with little balls making it look old and worn out quickly.

Essential Garment

This is the most versatile fleece I own.I now have 3 of them. I just purchased the borealis green in medium, and use it as a cozy sweater around the house, and also as a layer under a jacket.I also own a black and tiki green, both in large. I put a sweatshirt underneath and use is as an outer garment. It's super warm, and although not totally windproof it's weave is so tight it does block the wind somewhat. I'm new to Patagonia, but I'm committed to the brand for the long haul.
