I bought my first pair of Hoka after years of Brooks. I got the Clifton 10 Women’s and after just 11 days of wear (about 4 miles of walking my dog a day), the tread is significantly worn and I have terrible blisters on both big toes and my pinky toe. I tried to do a warranty claim since they were less than two weeks old and was denied. They said they were too worn…after 11 days. No shoe that costs this much should be wearing down so quickly and cause so much pain. I now have a $150 pair of book ends because I cannot imagine wearing them again.
I love the look of this shoe, and was looking for a comfortable shoe for long outdoor walks and the treadmill. The 8.5 was snug, and the associate sized me at closer to a 9, so I went with that. Definitely a very cushioned shoe, but unfortunately a bit too pillowy for me. I felt unstable walking in them. I used them once for a 45 minute high-include treadmill session. My feet felt sore before my session was over. I seems this shoe is simply not right for my foot shape (I’m narrow with high arches). The 8.5 was too small and the 9 definitely was too long, wide and the toe box was too tall. It’s too bad because they look nice!
I have always loved the Hoka Clifton . I have run many of my marathons in them , especially Boston . I ran Sydney in them and then traveled all about in their comfort before and after races . O have to say though , the 10 is impressive. I am working through a hamstring tear , and they are like putting on slippers , from the first moment I put them on .
I have owned Hoka for years, and many Clifton Models though I did skip the 9. I did try them on in store but didn't love the colors. Bought these in all black and they were delivered super fast- thank you REI! I am always a 7 in Hoka, but I found the new Clifton's to run smaller than the previous versions, even the 9's which I tried on in store and 7's fit perfectly. For reference, I am a EU 37.5, wear a 38 in Birkenstock, and used the sizing chart on REI for the Clifton 10 which states size 7 = 38.6. That is WRONG, The Hoka Box shows a women's size 7 is a EU 38, which runs much smaller than the Clifton 9. They are undoubtably extremely comfy, just run smaller than previous Clifton's length wise. Exchanging for 7.5. Hope REI and Hoka can correct the sizing on the site.
I’ve worn Cliftons for years and was hopeful about the 10, but this update doesn’t work for my needs. The change in geometry altered my stride, and after a few wears I started feeling it in my hips. My feet also moved around more — the laces didn’t lock in like they used to. Most surprisingly, the shoe seemed to shift my weight inward, putting pressure on my arches. The cushion is still solid, but the fit and feel just aren’t right for me anymore. I’ll need to find a new brand that better supports my stride.
These are pillowy soft and yet supportive in all of the right ways. They were purchased for my mother. She exclaimed that she never knew shoes could be this comfortable! They are attractive (without looking like support shoes). Aesthetically, they are perfect for most outfits. They hit all of the marks.
After a full year of constantly ordering and returning shoes hoka finally did well . Clifton 10’s are absolutely amazing!!! Best shoes ever , toe box is rounded and perfect , no need to get a wide and shoes don’t look like clown shoes anymore . Pls don’t change , Clifton 9’s were absolute garbage . I’m so happy with my shoes. Order now ! Don’t hesitate
This Clifton 10 is either defective or mismarked. I have not been able to wear these longer than 2 hours because of pain and they have rubbed a callous on my left outer foot. This is my third pair of Clifton and the first one that I cannot wear.
Once again Hoka ruined a good thing. They’ve widened the forefoot area so much that my feet slide around and pronate. This was never a problem before. $160 down the drain.
The most important thing to me about shoes is how they fit, because I have wide feet. I got a 7-1/2 W, and they fit well. I wore them around the house and while running errands for a while to break them in before doing anything more serious in them, and they quickly felt comfortable but still gave good support. I like the amount of rise under the heel. I plan to use these for extended urban walking (while still using boots for trail hiking) and think they will work well.
