Good eats!
I got this product to supplement my homemade backpacking meals. It rehydrates really well and tastes great when combined in your meals, much better then the veggies in the cup-o-noodles. I used it in meals such as: pastas, soups, 'stirfry', and couscous. I add a small handfull to my meal for a single serving. It could work as a snack by itself, without rehydration, but wasn't really to my tastes
Awesome addition to dinner
Purchased this product last year to try & stocking up this year ! I add 1/3-1/2 cup to most of my homemade backpacking dinners for some added nutrition and taste. Especially good with mashed potatoe & chicken dinner.
Handy supplement to backpacking meals
As others have mentioned, this makes a nice addition to supplement other pre-packaged, quick-to-prepare or DIY meals for the trail. Plan on a few minutes of cooking time for them to soften a bit. Taste and texture are good. I haven't really found anything similar to these on the market. I was happy to find these at our local REI, though last time i looked for them, they were sold out (so they must be popular!).
Love This Product
I use this in almost all my backpacking dinners, the veggies add an additional layer of taste, texture, bulk and nutrition to the meals. But it's best use is when added to Ramen, creating more of a vegetable soup than a simple noodle meal. Add some spices and it's very tasty. I always bring this along on backpacking trips.
Tasty vegetable mix
Our group loved these vegetables as long as they were properly hydrated. Add enough boiling water to the bag to cover the vegetables, stir, and seal the bag. Let it sit for about 8 minutes. After 4 minutes, knead the bag.
great way to get fiber
I love to use this to supplement snacks and camp food. There are some odd bits or a piece that tastes funny but I keep buying it. I wish there were other vegetable mixes. Also worked to add to a dehydrated camp meal.
Great for spicing up backcountry dinners
Used this veggie mix in three different dinners on a backpacking trip last week. While I didn't care for them in their crunchy state, others loved them. When reconstituting them, I would suggest adding them first to your water to give them an extra five minutes or so.
very helpful
Perfect if you want to make your own backpacking meals and no purchase the pre-made options. Very easy way to had veggies to recipes if you don't have a dehydrator or freeze dry capabilities. Very quick and tasty!!
Convenient and tasty, especially for backpacking
The Just Veggies mix is great for snacking as-is, but it is also a nice addition to a chicken and rice dinner when backpacking. I bought another bag to add to Ramen noodle soup mix. However, if you add it to a meal, be sure to pay attention to how long the meal needs to cook and/or sit, and how long the veggies need to sit so you don't end up with mushy food or mushy veggies.
Tasty and crunchy just as it says
I was very hungry and had these in my hiking supplies box and decided to open them up. I was surprised at how tasty they were, it was actually like eating real veggies(crunchy though). I plan to mix some with some hot water or soup and see how it is. Overall I enjoyed these, didn't give five stars because im not out hiking with them so I would like to see how much energy I get on the trail.
