Diamondback Release 3
Was contemplating this bike after reading reviews elsewhere. Finally found a competent bike person at REI who was able to walk me thru the various options that REI carried. I have a Ghost which I love, but wanted something a little different. After two rides, I am really enjoying this bike. Rode from Timberline down to Welches, and the bike handled the the bumps and ruts superbly. On the second ride, took it on a 3 mile climb and it climbed well. The tires are wide enough to help float on the sandy sections. We even have some loose rock gravely single track, and it floated well with the 2.35 tires.
Top of the line without the price!
I bought this bike after months of research led me to it. Reviews compared it to bikes like the Santa Cruz Bronson, without the Santa Cruz Bronson price. I can honestly say it handles all of my abuse and is the best climbing bike I've ever ridden. You definitely don't notice the weight and the Level Link almost entirely eliminates pedal bob. Level Link is Diamondback's version of VPP suspension which Santa Cruz introduced a while ago. I can honestly say I do not regret my decision so far.
Hands Down the Best Bike for the Money
I was reluctant to go with this brand but, I've had the bike for 4 weeks now and love it. Sure the welds might not look as good a SC and the suspension might be a copy of a SC, since their patent expired in a couple years ago; but you get this all at a quarter of the price. Upgrade the wheel- set and you've got a killer all mountain bike that competes with the best of them. Very impressed. Don't fool yourself by wasting your hard earned cash on brand/image. Get this and go ride!
