Great Fitness Watch
I've been using this watch for ~ 1 month and it's a very good fitness watch. I like the morning and evening reports. The new speaker/call function makes it easy to rely just on the watch. It looks nice & sleek, perfect for work and for exercise as well (no need to change watches!). I love the motivation alerts as well as using the app and reviewing my workouts when I use the watch to record my activities.
Great tracking - Watch size/band issues
So far, in regards to fitness and lifestyle tracking, this watch is top notch! I finally made the switch from the original Venu (because I cracked the screen) and am impressed with all the new, available features. The watch design itself though is lacking a bit. I wish the 45 mm came with soft gold hardware or that there was a 43 mm option in soft gold as well. 41 is quite small and the band is laughably short - and I have small wrists. Offering up a small, medium, and large options could open Garmin up to more people of varying sizes. In the end, the watch does a lot of great things, but changes need to be considered to make this an upgrade worth the cost.
Disappointed Long-Time Member
Can’t review the product because the online purchase experience was dismal and the watch was returned. I bought this watch to give as a Christmas gift. The watch was shipped in a thin paper mailer and the watch box was roughed up but passable - not what I would choose for a $500.00 watch. I gift-wrapped the watch but did not check all the contents My mistake! It was missing the charging cord. Went to REI store and the best they can do is a refund. I loose the sale pricing, wasted a lot of time researching the product and the gift was a bust.
not worth the money
I heard Garmin's were for data enthusiast, so when I learned here as a oxygen level monitor, I jumped and bought it. Bus as usual with all smart watches, its treated as a minor feature lacking any solid development efforts. I have sleep apnea and expected what I consider basic functions around the realtime data monitoring of my o2 levels. Simple things like alerts when levels reach x, ie o2 drops under 90%, 80% etc. I have abnormal sleep cycles, the watch is hard focused on 24hrs starting at midnight for data reference/collection, its data presentations all focus to this, ie if I wake up at 9pm my awake period time gets cut off at midnight. I want to go back properly record events and mark period of sleep as naps or sleep etc. All I could find were things that let me start new events, not manage old. The default clock faces cannot render am/pm, seems trivial, but its not there. They have been the watch game for how long now... And then there was the initial hassle of setting up the watch and getting it connected to my pc and android tablets and it coming out of the box in another language.
Great upgrade from older Garmin watches
Coming from an Instinct 2S, this was a great upgrade. Right from turning it on, the Venu 4 impressed me. The screen is SO vivid and easy to read. There is a learning curve coming from the 5-button mindset to the touch screen + 2 buttons, but it's not as bad as I feared. It's still all of the Garmin info you love, just in vivid color, sleeker and lighter weight, and easier to read in the dark or while moving. The improved GPS is really helping to record my indoor track runs with greater accuracy than the Instinct 2s ever could. The 41 mm size + small band fits me perfectly and I have truly tiny wrists (113 mm). If there are any cons, it's that Garmin gives you no set-up information - you gotta find the Venu 4 manual online and DIY it. Also, I've had to learn to use the screenlock while exercising, as my hoodie sleeve would change screens as I moved. My husband had a Garmin 255 model that he was happy with...until he saw my Venu 4. Now he has a Venu 4, too.
Love this watch, but………..
I love thi swatch and all the features and statistics it has to offer. The only problem is, and I know Garmin is aware and are working on a solution, is that there is a problem with the watch freezing up, periodically shutting off on its own and music just stopping mid workout. I did send my first Venu4 watch back and it was exchanged for a new one and the new one seems to be working just fine, but it is not the same story foe my husband who is still having these issues with his new one. I do recommend this watch, but I might hold back on purchasing until they get all the issues fixed.
I love my new watch!
I am pleased with my Venu 4 watch. I was afraid it would look too bulky on my wrist, but it’s perfect. It's pretty lightweight and comfortable to wear. I started tracking my sleep, and it helped a lot in my everyday life. Thank you!
Lve the Venu 4
I transitioned from the Apple Watch to the Venu 4 due to the better battery with the Venu 4 and also better activity tracking. I debated getting it for months but glad I did it. Well worth the buy.
So many features I'll never use them all!
I got this as an early Christmas gift to myself & I love it! The color screen, the many options of Activities & I love the daily summaries! The only downside is I have to wear it fairly loose or my skin gets a reaction from it, which I read is normal for a lot of users. Otherwise super happy with the purchase & the 10day battery life & the flashlight is an added bonus.
Venu 4 crosses needs of daily and running use
I chose the Venu 4 to replace my Forerunner 645 Music. I picked the Venu 4 instead of going with the Venu 3 for price because I wanted similar GPS capability and running stats that I enjoyed on my Forerunner. I wanted something that looked nice for daily wear at my job as well, so I did not chose the Forerunner 245 which would have been similar to my 645. The Venu 4 connects more reliably with my phone than the 645 did, looks great for daily wear, and gives me all the running info I have come to expect. Battery length is a huge upgrade for me too. Love it!
