Great upgrade!!
This Pure cycle is a great beginner bike. If you're someone like me and used to those riser bar on a mountain bikes it can be tricky at first. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get used to the drop-bar. As far as shifting goes, its way better than i have expected from reading a few review online. It was very smooth and going up hill was not a problem. The tires are from Hutchinson, and are the perfect size for anyone who are looking for a fun little going on a speed run on a flat road, to bumpy trail heads with loose gravels. The breaks on this bike is what you would expect of a $799 bikes. This bike is a bang for the bucks, you wouldn't regret making the purchase.
great entry bike
This is what I would believe to be a great entry bike into the world of different kinds of biking. Not the fastest, lightest, or most comfortable bike out the store. And of course after the initial break in of both you and the bike, it is actually a pretty sweet ride to keep handy. I've used this from everything to short rides down the street to play some volley ball to longer 20mi. rides. On both sides of that spectrums its allowed me to whisk by easily without any hesitation and jump into the game and on the longer rides I'm able to trail somewhat closely to the more avid riders. It has its limits but I would consider it a easy, beneficial buy.
Great on road as well as trails.
I am running the Planet Bike K.O.K.O. rear rack with Ortlieb City bags.
Best of both worlds
Perfect balance between pavement and dirt! The chain will make a little noise depending on the front/back gear combo. There is an odd (to me) half gear shift that slightly moves the chain to reduce tension on noisy gear pairings. That speaks more to my inexperience than the quality of the bike though. Just something I’ve never had to deal with in the past. I really do love this bike!
Please help me find a rear rack for panniers!
The bike overall is pretty good, and I would even say great *for the price point*. I have had it for 4+ years now and the frame is tough and components are fine, nothing fancy. But I am only writing this review in hopes that SOMEONE will be able to help me find a compatible rear rack to hold panniers on this bike...I cannot find one and even the Topeak MTX did not work when I shuffled it around...becasue of have nice Ortlieb panniers (non-compatible). Please, please help me!
