Ghost Love
Recently purchased the Ghost Cross 5 Hybrid bike and couldn't be happier with the purchase. Very smooth and solid ride. Plus the bike isn't hard on the eyes! I did a lot of research prior as I always do before a purchased like this. The staff at REI is extremely helpful and informative.
Getting back into cycling
Could not be happier with my decision to purchase the Ghost Square Cross 5. I am just getting back into cycling and this was the perfect choice for myself, at this time. Excellent craftsmanship by Ghost, very good components integrated, and the bike was assembled and adjusted almost perfectly by the REI Bike-smith. Very minor adjusts to the seat height and off you go. First thing I did replace was the seat, in upgrading to an eGel Surfas for more comfort. Definitely consider this bike and/or the Ghost product line when you are shopping.
Love being able to climb the hills!
Handles steep uphill and down hill roads smoothly. Ive only had it 2 weeks but so far i am still in love with it!
Cycling is Now Easier
I needed a new bike so instead of getting the same REI brand as before, I decided to go to a higher level of expertise, which is why I bought this beautiful Ghost bike. This bike runs so smooth BC of the German engineering. I love this bike & I am already having a lot of cycling fun.
Excellent mechanics...a bit heavy
I have had the Ghost out for about 70 miles riding in the first 10 days and an excellent bike mechanically. My only wish it that it was 3-4 pounds lighter
Absolutely fantastic ride!
Bought to start doing mixed road distance rides and was impressed with the quality and features. The green was nice on the eyes. Did 30 miles my first ride and it was effortless.
Great Bike, Even Better Service!
Bought the GHOST Square Cross 5 Bike last week and picked it up on Saturday morning. I've had a chance to ride the bike in varying terrain and thought it would be good to provide some feedback. The first day I had it, I rode it home from the Issaquah REI to the Issaquah Highlands (pretty much near the top!). The bike performed terrific, with shifting, braking and handling all being smooth and reliable. This morning, I took the bike out for a real test. Started out in the Highlands and took the power line route down to the Preston Trail. I should point out that the power line trail quickly becomes a single track, steep, rutty and bumpy mountain biking trail at this point and it's about 450' down. The trail would be crazy fun on a mountain bike, but I've got to say, the GHOST performed admirably given its supposed limitations. I spent a good part of my younger life mountain biking and this bike felt perfectly appropriate for the terrain (I did take it easy!). After that, pretty much flat trail to Preston, which was a breeze, then back to Highlands drive and bike paths the rest of the way home. I would feel comfortable taking this bike anywhere, but you probably wouldn't want to push its durability limits riding it quite this hard. But if you had to, you most certainly could. Awesome Hybrid. A quick word about their service: I N C R E D I B L E. I'd go into detail, but it would be a long story. Suffice it to say..... REI will go the extra mile for you if anything at all doesn't fit your expectations.
Poor assembly
The cheap pedals put on by the store without grease on the threads were corroded to the crank. Had to destroy the disposable pedals on. Greasing threads is recommended by Park tools and others in the industry. Store prep is crucial.
