Tasty and lightweight for backpacking ready meals
If you like curry spinach and rice then this is a winner. I didn't make a comment on the chicken as I didn't not distinctly Taste the chicken ingredient, therefore the minus one star. The flavors that really come through were the curry and the spinach. You also have to really mix the food in the bag after it's done cooking asa lot of the spinach and herbs settled in the bottom. Very easy and straight forward instructions. I like how they actually marked on the bag how much water you put in since I don't bring measuring cups on the trails. I personally think it can use a bit more pepper, but that's just me. I do bring small bags of seasoning when I camp anyways so that's not a deal breaker. Very good calories per bag, this one has 540 cal. I really like how all the ingredients are organic. I'm excited to try their other flavors. P.S. I received a sample in exchange for an honest review.
Excellent taste, compact packaging
This is probably one of the best-tasting Currys I have tasted of all the brands. The water mark on the side of the package was right on and the 20 min wait was perfect to make sure everything is rehydrated. It was spicy and tasted great with a great mix of all the ingredients. I liked the compact packaging as it makes it easy to pack but felt the 1 serving size was a little small for 1 serving. The only other issue is that I do a lot of bikepacking in the middle of winter and the 20 min wait time is a little long. Usually when dehydrated meals go past 12 min for rehydration time, then they are cold by the time you get to eat them. This is not just about this brand it is all dehydrated meals.
Delicious
Took a couple of different these backpacking Segments 8 & 9 of the Colorado Trail this summer and it was delicious and the perfect serving size for one.
Perfect for a cheap meal on Amtrak
My husband and I just shared this for dinner while riding coach on Amtrak. It’s enough calories given the limited physical activity during this trip. It was quite tasty. Preparation was easy using a portable electric teakettle.
New Favorite!
I was very impressed with this meal! I'm really excited to see more single serving meals becoming available. I recently returned from a trip with four others. We each had different meals and this one was everyone's favorite by far. I will be purchasing more!
Add a little curry to your camping
This flavor is definitely better than the chicken mole, but the rice really isn't absorptive enough. The curry flavor and the chicken are excellent, however, and I can almost get over the rice. And yes, I actually used my thermometer to determine if my water was at 212 degrees F before adding it. There are other companies that make dehydrated rice better - they are just not organic.
Surprisingly good!
For freeze dried food, this was really good. The only down side is it takes 20 minutes to rehydrate and has A LOT of sodium and A LOT of saturated fat. On the flip side, it has 36g of protein and tastes like a real meal. For camping food… I would definitely recommend this.
Real dinner on the trail!
2nd night on the trail, I had a serious headache and was nauseous. I knew I needed to eat something, but man, it needed to taste good. This entree fit the bill. Cooked well (no crunchies) and tasted incredible! On a second trip, my picky 14 y/o son had it. I was afraid he would see that it was "Spinach Curry" and reject it, but he loved it too! 5 stars for the win!
Flavor is decent but pretty salty
So the single serving bag is the perfect size for a lunch but the fact that it takes 20 minutes to cook is a long time compared to other dehydrated meals. Tastes pretty good other than the fact that's it's overly salted. I threw in an over easy egg to balance it out and that helped quite a bit.
Great one person meal!
I bought this as it's one of the only 1 serving meals I could find, and it did not disappoint! Very flavorful. It did not have clear directions on how much water to add, so mine was a little dry. However I LOVED that I could reseal it. I added my water and took it to go. I'll definitely be buying this again and will look for others by the brand.
