Drunken noodles

I’m trying the foods before I go out to the wilds. This meal was pretty good. Water was right amount , although I should have let it soak a few more minutes it was ok, I added a little bit of soy sauce and it helped., but was ok without it.

not bad, not the best either

Trying out various backpacking meals so I’m not stuck with something that sucks on the trail. Tried this one today, and I thought it was fairly good, which I’d put at a 4, but I docked a second star because it was incredibly salty (way saltier than other meals in this brand, like the fettuccine alfredo). If I did bring this on trail, I’d throw some crushed peanuts on the finished product - unsalted of course.

Better than the Pad Thai!

This meal was killer! It is almost a cross of Pad See Ew and Drunken Noodles. Could have been a little sweeter for my liking. All said, I prefer this to Backpacker’s Pad Thai now!

So good!

I tried this meal at home before taking it on an overnight. I am a very picky eater. Many meals in this sector just taste like salty water. This one was actually good! As I do with all freeze-dried meals, I used less water than recommended. In this case I used 1 cup a skosh (instead of 1.5cups.) I added a bit of sweet chili sauce because I add chili to everything. I loved every bite. Adding crushed nuts will be a nice bonus that I’ll toss in my bear can.

Pass on this one.

The only way to enjoy these noodles is to be drunk. I have low expectations when it comes to freeze dried food but this was too much. What made it worse is that I had to carry out a mostly uneaten packet for 9 miles before I coul toss it. REI should taste test food before offering it on their shleves.

Great meal

I loved this meal! I thought it was flavorful, had a good texture, and rehydrated easily. It does have a strong cilantro flavor, so consider that if you don't like cilantro. I have tried many backpacking meals, and this is one that I would definitely buy again. I especially liked that it has a lot of flavor and not just spice.

Awful

If you have ever enjoyed Thai drunken noodles in your life and mildly enjoyed it, do not buy this. Tastes like pepper and broccoli. Unless I had no other options and didn’t know when I’d eat next, I would eat this and probably regret it.

One of My Favorite Flavors!

Great option and one of my favorite ones to get! The flavor on this one is savory and sweet with a peppery kick that is not spicy. Definitely would get this one again

Not a fan...

Was not appetizing. I think thicker and larger noodles with some chewiness would have been better. I am not a fan of the thinner chopped rice noodles.

Good!

Brought this one on a recent PCT thruhike- it was one of the few I actually looked forward to eating! I wish it was higher calories though!
