Rated 5 out of 5 by from scree pant a hiker's dream I purchased a pair in dark steel size 6 length regular (31-32"). I am 5' 3.5" and weigh 135#and they fit me beautifully. I have muscular thighs from biking/hiking and they are roomy enough to accommodate with plenty of stretch. I have worn these on about 10 -12 winter hikes this season (2014-2015) 4-5 hour hikes (7-15 miles depending on grade) and they are very breathable. I live in CT and have been adding a base layer underneath as temps can get to zero with windchill. I keep very warm in these, while not waterPROOF, they are HIGHLY water resistant with some moderate windproof ability as well. Material is tough but comfortable and doesn't rip, tear, or snag on tree branches or prickers. Well worth the price tag! Am purchasing a 2nd pair in black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made for women with curves! I've been a long-time fan of REI's Mistral pants, having worn out the 2004-2009 model years, and was looking for replacements. Unfortunately the 2015 model of that brand is meant for athletic builds with no curves, so didn't fit at all. After a lengthy search, I stumbled across Marmot's Scree pants, and they fit exactly like the older Mistral pants! They're perfect for someone with a butt and a curves! They are so comfortable, and they fit me like a glove. I love them! I will definitely be buying more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants! Breathable, flexible, and water-resistant, these are my favorite pants for mountaineering and early/late season rock climbing. They are very stretchy, offering a good range of motion. Because of the durable and water-replant fabric, you can even glissade in these with minimal bottom soaking. True to other comments, the legs on these pants are on the roomier side, which is great for me! I have an athletic build with very muscular legs, so I appreciate the room. I have two pairs of these pants, one of which arrived with defective stitching at the crotch (i.e. a gaping hole below the zipper), but a quick run at the sewing machine fixed that problem. Other than that, these pants have shown little wear with a lot of use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from runs short I am fairly average height (5'7) and can generally get away with "regular" inseams, but these pants run a bit short. I had to check to be sure I ordered correctly because these pants look like they are specifically made for short people. The taper at the bottom of the leg accentuates the problem. The quality of the material and construction are excellent, but the I am going to have to return these pants because of the length. I wish the long version was available, because everything else about these pants is spot on. I would recommend this product to friends, but only to the short ones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs as advertised. Bought these pants as a "cold" weather hiking pant for the Adirondacks. When I first opened the package I thought they would be way to light to do the job, however, upon wearing them up a 4500' mountain this fall in 32 degree temps I realize they are just what I needed. Also love that they come in a shorter length for my 5'2" frame. Waist is a bit loose which surprises me since I do weight a sturdy 138lbs but a belt fixed that. Love these pants!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great go-to Reviewing for the 2011 edition of this pant (yes it took me this long to write it). These are my favorite pants! I originally got them for monitoring sea turtles in Hawaii and needed a pant that would keep me warm through the nights on the windy beaches while having plenty of stretch to restrain large turtles to identify them. These were perfect! After the season I took them back home to Montana where they have become my only cross-country ski pant (and often my downhill pant as well). I love the stretch for all the bending and movement I put them through while I myself have a slim build. I am also in love with the zippered ankle and draw cord around it- great for fitting over boots or cinching tight to ankles to block wind in smaller footwear and sandals. These breath very well but also keep warmth. Great for winter days, but breathe enough to not roast you in the summer. After almost four years of having these, they only have one small tear on the knee from a serious trip into some lava rock in Hawaii. They haven't stretched out- have always maintained their shape. Way easy to wash. Still water repellent- hasn't wet through yet in four years! (Aside from a few long lunches sitting in the snow during a day of skiing). I got them on sale, but the full price is certainly worth it. Would buy again, but at this rate, I'm not sure if I ever would need to as they've held up so well so far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart pants I have two pairs because I loved my black ones so much I also bought grey. They are a perfect fit - I have strong thighs and butt from hiking, climbing and cycling and love the comfortable stretch. They look good and have smart features. The thigh pocket is perfect for passport and boarding passes and they look as good at the airport as they do on the hill. Please don't change the fit! Some more color options would be great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great selection I bought these for hiking and snowshoeing anytime the temps are around 45-50 or lower. So far I've only used them in dry (no snow) conditions as we're having an unusually warm and dry fall. I like the fit; they move with me well. I kind of wish the waist was just a touch lower, but it's not a deal breaker. Marmot products, especially pants/shorts, fit me well, so it's my go-to brand. Some people thought the fit was large; I disagree. It's pretty spot-on for me, even a touch tight, but will also serve as a reminder to pass up those desserts and get outside.

Can you rinse these out at night and air dry them by morning?  Want pants for long  international trip with minimal packing space?  Good for that?

Asked by: Vswaits
These pants dry quickly, however, the conditions that you are hiking in will affect how quickly they dry. They are a great choice for a lightweight and packable hiking pant.

Marmot offers these pants in short (29"), med (31"), and long (33") inseams, but the specs here call out 32". I'm assuming since it is not specified these are the med, but does REI offer the long? The men have choices, why not women?

Asked by: Willobeb
Unfortunately, REI does not currently stock this pant with the long inseam. You may be able to special order these pants through your nearest REI retail store; please contact the store for more details regarding this service. http://www.rei.com/map/store
