Short: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2 inches shorter than regular sizes. Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated.

I have several of these and they are great for traveling. This latest pair is cut smaller than in the past. My others are size 6 and I bought an 8 this time and they fit exactly the same. The side pocket is about an inch shorter than before. My iPhone pro max hangs out by about an inch and I can’t zip it closed. My older pairs fit my phone and can be zipped. Why would you make the pocket shorter? Makes no sense. I took a star off for sizing and side pocket. Other than that, great pants for traveling and hiking.
Incorrect sizing. I purchased these pants in my typical size, size 0. They were not as loose as I’d prefer in a hiking pant, so I then ordered these same pants in size 2 and 4. Size 2 and 4 are identical in measurement to the size 0 pants. So then I ordered these same same pants in size 6. Size 6 is only ever so slightly wider in the waist than the size 0, 2, and 4 pants. If they can get their sizing right, these would be great pants. Photographed is the size 0 pants on top of the size 2 pants on top of the size 4 pants on top of the size 6 pants. As you can see, size 0, 2, and 4 all have identical waist measurement, and size 6 is only slightly bigger.
I bought these for backpacking and really needed something technical, quick drying, water resistant and durable. These fit the bill! I took them on a 10 day backpacking trek around Mt Rainier and they held up really well. Lots of brushy areas where the water hit my lower legs. A lot of it pilled up and didn't soak in, but even when certain areas made the lower pant wet it dried quickly. They stretched easily when I needed to climb up some larger boulders or steps. The cinch on the bottom cuff was really helpful for keeping extra wind/moisture out. My only complaint was that they seem to pill easily in areas like the front upper leg where my backpack straps hung down and were in frequent contact rubbing that area. I may be able to shave those off with a fabric razor. Also I could have sworn these were black in color but they are very much a dark blue when held up to something that is a true black.
I had bought online without trying on and had no prior experience with OR pants. I am VERY pleased. I am just under 5 feet one and about 105 pounds. The 0 SHORT fits well. People like me have a HARD time finding pants that work! The waist is almost too generous--the drawstring helps. I only need to fold the cuffs once for perfect length--not bad! Material is lightweight and super comfortable. Probably not the most generous pockets as hiking pants go but I keep my phone handy with a running belt so I did not need large pockets. For reference, I have bulbous calves, meaty hamstrings--an athletic, not skinny, build.
I wore a pair of these pants for 5 months continuous hiking on various trails - rain, sun, snow, mud, you name it. They proved themselves over and over. The length was perfect and I often wore them with home-made ankle gaiters. Also as I lost weight on the trail (don't eat the local chicken!), I was able to use the string to cinch them in. Lightweight and quick-drying, they made washing on the trail easy, and the navy blue hid dirt and minor stains well. The fabric was stretchy enough to handle climbs, scrambling, and long days with a pack, and while they faded in strong sun over time, that didn’t affect performance. The right thigh pocket is perfectly placed and no issues with the zip, and the back pockets are deep which is handy. I never quite got the gist of the little elastic things and plastic pieces around the ankles, so wouldn't be disappointed if they disappeared. I do wear another pair casually, and ended up buying Ferrosi shorts for hiking as well. For comfort, fit, durability etc. I can't say enough. Please don't change this product OR they rock!
This is a joke. $100 for paper. They ripped on the 4th use and REI won’t do anything about it. Outdoor pants for women have reached a new low.
These are the most comfortable, well fitting hiking pants I have ever found. Period. The fabric is soft and super light, stretch is awesome, abrasion resistance is very good (hiking through - and falling in - heavy overgrown shrubs yielded no snags or abrasions whatsoever). I find them to be warm as well - hiking in 50-55 degree fall weather with light winds was comfortable. I was worried that the inseam (stated at 31.5') would be too short - I have a 32" inseam, but the length was perfect. I could seriously wear these every.single.day - I like these so much I got 4 pair, and if I could find my size in black, I'd have 5.
Finally outdoor pants that feel and fit so well! I am a canyoneering, climbing and hiking guide and I usually resort to wearing leggings or shorts since outdoor pants usually fit me very poorly. For reference I am 5'0", 136lb with a curvy/athletic bottom. My boyfriend wears these all the time guiding and I was getting jealous of how comfy they look and how long they've lasted him (years). Bought my first pair and they fit me wonderfully (short size) and they are breathable, light, and I don't have to keep adjusting it (the drawstring and button combined are perfect). When my boyfriend saw my in them he said WOW they look GOOD! Haha!
This updated Ferrosi Pant is much better than the pair I purchased back in 2018. Love the pockets, the thigh pocket can fit my iPhone 8+. Women need pockets or at least I do so this is a great addition. Comfortable to wear while hiking and all other activities. Stretchy and made well. The best part is how versatile these pants are, wear outdoors or wear into town for dinner. I love Pants that are dual purpose. Great job Outdoor Research!!!
Stretchy and very comfy for all sorts of weather. HOWEVER - while you can put a phone in the side pocket you can't secure it there. The pocket is not long enough. The regular pockets are designed so anything in there that's hard means you can't bend your knees properly, for either squatting OR going up big steps - hard to use on trail or even for regular travel. Things need to be forced to sit sideways. Also the little tabs on the ankles to make the pants tighten or loosen fall off. Got lost. Generally a very decent travel pant otherwise, great if fixed. I used for hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc, travel around Europe for many weeks, and lots of Canadian hiking and general wear. This website now sucks, the AI is trying to overwrite as I type and is messing up everything. GAH. OR yikes p
