The everything shoe
I picked up a pair of these looking for something to keep my feet dry on hikes/walks. Gore-tex shoes really are a game changer when it comes to weight and breathability. But after wearing these a bit, they have become my go-to sneaker for everyday wear! Very comfortable with a roomy toe box and supportive sole. I was a little skeptical of the Boa lacing at first glance, but I've been converted. I never have to worry about them coming untied and can really DIAL in the fit ;) All that in a low-key black colorway make them a shoe I can wear with just about anything, on and off the trail.
had similar pair of arcteryx..
I had a very similar pair that were arcteryx. Same price same specs. These are a lot more roomy, and I love the BOA. It’s so nice just to pop it open and pull your shoes off. I 100% use these for walking the dogs 3x a day for about 5-6 miles everyday no matter the weather. I am sure they will be capable elsewhere but these are my new go to dog walkers in all weather shoe. I walk the dogs more than I hike or bike so why not invest in a good pair of shoes?
Great Shoes But.......
I love these shoes, super comfortable, waterproof, BOA system, and durable BUT these guys are ugly. No way around it, once you actually have them on, they look like diabetic clipless bike shoes. I wear them for business only, so for dog park, runs in the rain, and working outdoors. Too embarrassed for public use. It's too bad because I really like them.
Light, soft, perfect fit
Similar to Arcteryx Konseal, very light and plenty of cushion. The improvement is the BOA, it can vary from very loose to very tight fit, suitable for different thickness of socks. Can't be better.
800 miles is the limit
These were my favorite pair of shoes that I have owned in the last 10 years. The waterproofing is top notch and it doesn’t get any better. I have been using the shoes to walk my dogs in Portland, Oregon every winter during the rainy season for two solid years. I track all my miles and I locked roughly 820 miles on the shoots before they started to go. the soul of the shoe it is still in great condition there’s still tread left the compound they use to make it not slip on ice is still working. The thing that failed was the area where there is a toe crease as you walk that flexion point ended up, tearing on those shoes, outer and inner foot. I mean as far as longevity what can one expect. There is no mileage listing one shoes. Nonetheless these shows have lasted much longer than any other shoe I’ve put through the dog walk tests over the years through the rain and miles. I wish REI sold more options. ICEBUG has much more to offer on their website
Great traction
I agree with the previous review, I was skeptical of the lack of laces but it turns out, I love it! the traction is great in snow and the gortex is perfect for inclement weather. 10/10 would recommend
