Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally Vasque is back in the game.... Got these shoes a couple weeks ago and was pretty excited as many years ago I actually ran in Velocity's before there were all these trail running shoes on the market, but then Vasque shoes kind of lost their edge and then I went to Altras and various other shoes. But I am happy to report these shoes bring Vasque back in the game! Toe box is decently spacious, the grip is incredible...I like the feel of the lugs on both the mud and on some pavement...not too aggressive, not to mild...heel cup is not overly tight but not sloppy either. My ONLY complaint is there is not the second lace eyelet at the top so you can loop the laces and lock the heel but I fixed that with a quick meat thermometer modification and now they are exactly the way I want them! One other note: the shoe is pretty stiff to start out with but softens up to a milder firmness after some miles. Just FYI if you are used to a soft ride out of the box...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nailed it! Love these shoes as my everyday trail runners and definitely a go to for races. They are also plenty strong for lightweight backpacking and thru-hiking. I put 600 miles on one pair while thru-hiking the Arizona Trail and they still had some miles left in them when I dropped them in the hiker box. Plus, out of the group of three I was the only one with no blisters or foot pain. I also wear these as my daily trail running shoe and love them. Why I like this shoe so much for trail running and lightweight backpacking-> The grip: Vasque AxisGrip rubber sole high performance grip is star shaped and really grips regardless of the contours of the trail. Great for climbs, sleek enough for cruising flat miles, and extremely (for real) reliable on the downhills. Even outside of running, when I used them thru-hiking, I felt very confident carrying speed into my downhills and that is with 20-30 lbs on my back. You really have to be going mach to get loose in these shoes. Breathability: highly breathable, most of my use has been in desert climates and my foot is also feeling comfortable. Rock plate: love, love, love. Soles: took a couple hundred thru-hiking miles to even notice a bit of packout! I think Vasque nailed it on this one. Happy trails!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very comfortable but... This a very comfortable trail shoe with ample cushion and a really nice feel for the trail but I have noticed that the shoes are beginning to wear though in the mid foot part of the shoe after only 25-30 miles. I have not seen this on other reviews so I may have just gotten a bad the fit and the ride but worry about the longevity of the outer material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Near Perfection!! I'm an ultra trail runner that has run in numerous different shoes from lightweight, minimal shoes to ultra cushioned shoes. For me, putting in around 100 miles per week, I've come to the point that I need a middle ground shoe. After immediately putting on this shoe, I was confident that it would be one of my favorites, and I was right. It found super comfortable out of the box and had almost no break in time to feel good. It has just the right amount of cushioning for my style of running. Not super cushioned but enough to protect my feet for 100 mile per week training. After receiving these shoes 1 week before a 50 mile trail race, I was confident enough that they would perform to my expectations and they didn't disappoint. I placed 1st in the race and the shoes performed great! These shoes are honestly one of my favorite trail shoes ever and find myself always going for them for long training runs and most of my races. I honestly only have two things that I feel could be changed to make the sure better. First is the weight. It is a little heavier in comparison to a lot of ultra trail running shoes; however, I seriously feel that it's overall feel and performance more than makes up for the additional few ounces. The second is in the lacing system. The distance between the eyelets are too close together so whenever you really pull the shoe strings tight to keep your foot in place, the eyelets are almost touching each other. Then after tying the strings together, the shoe strings had so much string remaining that they were touching the ground. This was an easy fix as before wearing these shoes, my go to shoe was the Peal Izumi N2, which makes a sausage link style shoe string that's awesome. I replace the strings with the Peal Izumi strings but they were actually even longer. I ended up just cutting the ends of the strings and searing them so they were the proper length. Easy fix. Overall I gave this shoe a 5 star rating because it matches up with some of the best trail running shoe brands on the market and performs as good, or even better, than any trail shoe ever. Super excited to continue training and racing in this amazing shoe!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new "Go to" shoe! I practically knew that this shoe was gonna a great performer right out of the box. The initial fit and feel was great and it only got better from there. With the amount of miles I put in per week (75+) on steep, technical terrain, I need a versatile shoe with cushioning, protection and support and this shoe provides all of these. I find myself wanting to wear these shoes for all of my runs. The durability has been great! No tears or pulling. The only wear has been on the lugs but they're typical for the amount of miles I've placed on them. The biggest downside for me is the weight; however, I personally believe that the fit, feel and performance more than makes up for the additional weight. I've worn these for 50k and 50mi races and they've performed fantastic! I'm more than happy with these shoe and would definitely recommend these shoes for long training runs and racing both.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Constant Digging Into Heels I purchased a month ago and at first they were very comfortable they the heel began to dig into my lower Achilles tendon lile they were designed to perform that very task. I'v tried lacing them at different tensions and given them a good amoumnt of time to break in. I can't say I would recommend these shoes for this reason. Otherwise no other problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vast Improvements in "Velocity" Line This latest installment to the Vasque "Velocity" line of Trail Running shoes is a vast improvement from Vasque! I've shredded thru several pairs of the "Velocity" line in the last few years. Last year I thought the 2015 Vasque "Velocity" were great for trail running, backpacking, and bike commuting -- loved them -- 2016 "Constant Velocity" is even better! New 2016 Vasque "Constant Velocity" provides marked improvement in several ways: 1. Lighter shoe -- much more breathable, dries much faster when soaked 2. Nimble "frame" -- eliminates external pressure points from 2015 3. Fantastic cushion -- heel strike has more cushion than 2015 model 4. Snug fit -- totally redesigned tounge + laces = tactile fit, no chafing Having logged +200 mi/60 day on coarse Appalachian scree/silty mud I'm astounded how well these super light, nimble, and ultra-comfortable shoes are performing. Way to go Vasque! I can't wait to try the new "Vertical Velocity" trail runners too! Matt

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and lightweight shoe I already wear the Vasque Talus low-cut boot and love it. I am 57 and was having issues with my iliotibial bands during hikes, so I sought out a lighter weight shoe and purchased the Constant Velocity (I also learned how to roll-out my IT bands prior to hikes, which made a big difference in my knee strength & mobility). The CV is lightweight, has super cushion in the heel and average cushion at the ball of the foot to toe. Probably best with hiking socks if carrying any kind of backpack. Very grippy bottom. Sizing is true. Lacing is amazing, you can lace this shoe extremely tight or very loose with no lace slippage, double knots necessary due to lace length. Toe box of the standard width is plenty wide. I always buy at least one-half to one size larger to avoid toe impact on downhills, and with the snug lacing and light breathable side walls, this shoe will not slip with proper lacing tension. The gray/cheddar is not too bright to wear as an everyday casual shoe. Love it so far.

Am considering purchasing the Constant Velocity but am curious as to whether it is built on the same last as the Mindbender In which I currently run.Additionally, wondered if sizing would vary between the 2 models. Thanks

Asked by: None
The Constant Velocity and the Mindbender were not built on the same last. The Constant Velocity is slightly more narrow throughout the shoe than the Mindbender is.
