Love the shoes design question durability I had issues possibly manu defect left shoe developed very noticeable squeak my opinion tread separation from sole after 15 mile hike I returned for same exact shoe I really wanna love this shoe but not so sure we will see
I have the high top version of this shoe, fits to size, fairly comfortable, feet sweat to death, not real happy. Definitely would not bully again. Fairly weathproof isn’t worth frozen feet at the end of the day because there they don’t breath. Also, not rated for more than an average guy with no pack, consider them a casual boot that you wear to work and get home to sweat soaked feet.
This is a great shoe for those who used to love the Salomon Ultra X shoe before the design was changed to incorporate the very uncomfortable elastic webbing over the tongue. The salesperson, Brandon, was super helpful and knowledgeable to help explain the benefits and changes of this shoe. He also suggested the use of locklaces to get rid of the flat laces so they would even more like the old better version of the Salomon X Ultra shoe.
I tried these out hiking 2 days in Big Bend National Park. The box toes & zero drop make a big difference. My feet stayed dry in a natural spring area crossing. I love wearing them as well as everyday shoes.
Light weight, and durable. Gortex is a great addition to the Lone Peak shoe.
Ordered these online direct from REI -- they are really nice shoes on first inspection. This would have been my 14th pair of Altras and 10th Lone Peaks since the original yellow/gray ones from 2013... so I was excited for the Gore Tex and Vibram sole options 13 years later. Anyways for my feet, the reinforced patch on the outside of the toebox, specifically that pointy triangle of the patch (the part that says "Gore Tex" on it -- that part dug right into both of my feet on every step when the forefoot creased. Not sure if that is impacted by the manner in which the Gore-Tex creases. If you don't have that issue, these looked and felt like very nice shoes. I returned them rather than try to push thru the issue. REI was very easy to return these to.
Got these for a japan snow trip and they are perfect! Im a fan of the lone peaks so I knew the fit would be great and it was. If you want dedicated snow shoes id get something with more ankle coverage but if you want a multi use shoe these are great
True to size little to no break in vibramsole lit bit stiffer less bounce than 9s.
I should have switched to these years ago. The width and room in the toe box is great!
In other running shoes, I've been a 10. In other Altras, I'm an 11. In the gortex version of the Lone Peak 9+ gtx, an 11 was gigantic. The store employee mentioned there were size discrepancies & returns from others in the gortex version as well. 10.5 fit fine, but the 11 felt two sizes too large. Otherwise good shoe.
