New Favorite Trail Runners

Got to test the Brooks Cascadia 20s out recently on some trail runs and hikes. Upon putting the shoe on, I was immediately impressed with how locked in and secure my foot felt. The shoe was very stable and kept my foot from rolling medially and laterally while on my hikes and runs. On the trails, the Vibram Megagrip did a great job of giving me traction on loose dirt/gravel, rocks, dusty terrain, and wet terrain without slipping or sliding. The shoe was able to easily handle any of the trails I ran or hiked and felt very comfortable throughout all of them. The breathable mesh upper helped vent my sweat so my feet could stay cool, dry, and comfortable. The only part of the shoe I took issue with was the lacing/tongue, as it felt a bit too tight on my foot regardless of how I laced them up. Overall the Cascadia 20s are a great, comfortable trail runner and I’d recommend them for anyone looking for low rise hikers or trail runners. *disclaimer - I was given this product for free in exchange for my honest review*

Awesome DailyTrail Runner!

I used the Cascadia 20 for some light hiking and trail runs. The shoe performed great on loose gravel, large rocks and gnarly roots. I was able to climb and descend steep hills without any slippage due to the generous coverage of the Vibram outsole. The midsole proved to be solid. I was able to feel the ground and get feedback but my feet still felt protected. The wide base allowed for a nice stable ride. The upper felt very plush and the shoe was comfortable when I initially put them the on. My one complaint is that the toe box felt a little crammed on the pinky side. I have narrow feet so I could manage but I could see this being an issue for some. Overall it’s a great daily shoe for different distances and is going to be my primary training shoe to eat up miles while I train for an ultramarathon.

Grippy and comfortable trail runners!

The Cascadia 20 shoes from Brooks have some pretty good features! After I wore them I could tell it is a narrow upper with these shoes, your feet don't move around in them which is nice! Size is true, I wear a 9 and these shoes in size 9 fit right! The soles are the Vibram soles and they are grippy! No issues in loose rock, dirt or wet conditions and you can feel the grip even walking on tile or smooth floor. The soles seem to be durable and should last a while! the quality of the upper seems to be solid too. The shoes have good cushion, my feet were not sore after wearing them all day multiple days. I could feel good responsiveness and return of the shoes while both running and walking in them. Overall these are great shoes! I'd recommend these to people who are looking for grippy trail runners or shoes to use on long hikes! I The Cascadia 20 shoes from Brooks have some pretty good features! Great Trail Traction and Rock-Solid Stability

As a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Kinesiology Professor, I evaluate athletic footwear through both a biomechanical lens—focusing on gait stability, underfoot protection, and functional movement—and real-world durability. Over the past few weeks, I put the Brooks Cascadia 20 through a complete testing circuit, logging high-mileage trail runs, long-distance dog walks, and technical hikes across changing North Georgia terrain. Fit, Upper & Breathability Sizing length-wise is true to size, but runners with high-volume or wider feet should take note: the upper offers a very snug, performance-locked fit. While comfortable once on without any pressure points or hot spots, I struggled to slip into them initially due to the tight volume. The lace system holds its structure exceptionally well—taking extra effort to loosen and adjust, but paying off with a rock-solid midfoot lock on steep descents. The air-mesh upper is extremely breathable, keeping my feet cool and shedding moisture easily in humid conditions. Cushioning, Stability & Ride Quality If you prefer ground feedback over overly plush, "cloud-like" maximalist shoes, the Cascadia 20 hits the sweet spot. The 4mm addition of DNA FLASH v2 cushioning offers a firm, protective ride that dampens impact on hard trails while maintaining excellent responsiveness and energy return. Paired with the Trail Adapt system, the shoe provides incredible lateral stability, keeping my ankles secure over uneven roots, rocks, and slick mud. Traction, Durability & Real-World Use The Vibram® Megagrip outsole with 4mm lugs is hands-down the highlight of this shoe. It delivers unmatched traction on wet trails, steep dirt, and damp terrain, holding up to everything I threw at it. As a fun real-world observation: while the rubber is silent on dirt, the aggressive lugs are surprisingly loud on smooth pavement or indoor floors when wearing them post-run—everyone will hear you coming! Best Use Cases & Recommendation The Cascadia 20 is an off-road workhorse built for technical trail running, long-distance hiking, and wet-weather outings where reliable traction is paramount. I highly recommend this shoe to trail runners and hikers looking for a stable, protective platform that delivers elite grip on changing terrain. Great shoe with great traction

The fit is true to size and comfortable. The traction from the sole is really good and I felt confident running in them. The cushion and responsiveness felt good for longer trail runs and I have yet to have any foot trouble with these shoes. They felt a little tight right away but after getting some miles in they felt really good. My feet also stayed comfortable temperature wise on all the runs I have done so far and the shoes have held up really well. The one thing I didn't like is that it felt a little more prone to rolling my ankle, keep in mind I do not like to tie my shoes very tight and that couple with the great traction probably didn't help - but I will still wear these shoes for most my runs going forward - they have held up well and I haven't had any issues. Let's get those miles!

I've taken the cascadia out running in both wet and dry conditions. It's has been incredibly reliable. Grip was excellent whether the terrain was wet or dry. I felt like the shoe did well at almost disappearing on my foot. It's hard to explain but it felt like the shoe disappeared and I was able to just focus on running and having fun out in nature without worrying about my feet. I would say that it's true to size. I think this shoe is perfect for someone looking for a reliable trail runner that just wants to focus on getting miles in without worrying about their feet. All Around Workhorse

The Brooks Cascadia 20 was a solid, dependable trail shoe that I enjoyed using. It didn’t necessarily do anything flashy or feel revolutionary, but it was a great workhorse trainer. The cushioning was comfortable for longer runs and hikes, while the stable ride and good traction made it feel confident on uneven and technical terrain. The fit was comfortable and secure, and I appreciated how versatile the shoe was across different trail conditions. I’d recommend it to someone looking for a reliable, durable trail shoe that can handle regular mileage without trying to be overly specialized. Brooks Cascadia 20 - Comfortable Trail Tank

The Brooks Cascadia 20 is a trail shoe that prioritizes stability and durability over speed. It’s definitely on the heavier side, but once you get it on the trails, it gets the job done. This feels like a shoe you can put a lot of miles into and trust to hold up, especially on more technical terrain. Overall, the comfort is really good. The DNA Flash foam is seriously underrated and gives the shoe a really nice ride. The heel is softer and comfortable, while the forefoot has a little more firmness and pop, which gives it some responsiveness without making it feel overly soft. It’s definitely not a super fast shoe, but the energy return is better than I expected for a shoe this heavy. The fit is on the narrower side, but it was true to size for me. The upper is definitely thicker, although it’s still surprisingly breathable and comfortable on longer runs. Stability is probably one of the biggest strengths of the Cascadia 20. The Trail Adapt system paired with the Vibram Megagrip outsole gives you a ton of confidence on the trails. The grip is incredible and has that really satisfying crunch when running over gravel and rocks. For me, this is best suited for everyday trail miles, longer runs, technical terrain, and runners who want something they don’t have to worry about beating up. The durability is a big selling point, and I could easily see this being a shoe you rack up a lot of miles in. Overall, the Cascadia 20 is one of the best-looking trail shoes I’ve tested. It’s not the shoe I’d reach for when I want to run fast, but if you want something stable, comfortable, durable, and extremely grippy that can handle a lot of miles, the Cascadia 20 is a really solid option. *I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.

Great, versatile trail shoe

This shoe is great and versatile for all trail types. Felt very fast for some flat crushed gravel and felt cushy, grippy, and supportive on rocky steep hills. 12 miles on my first run in these and they felt great, a little narrow feeling initially but wore in quickly and there was no issue. Excellent breathability as I wore these on a hot humid day and feet never felt too hot or sweaty. Excellent trail shoe for medium to long runs. Comfort and Confidence on Every Trail

I’ve been putting the Brooks Cascadia 20 through its paces on a mix of pavement and trails, and what stood out most to me was how comfortable and stable they felt from the start. The cushioning gives me plenty of protection underfoot without making the shoe feel overly soft or bulky, and they still feel responsive when I pick up the pace. I especially appreciated the secure fit and confidence they gave me on uneven terrain. The ride feels smooth, supportive, and controlled, which makes the Cascadia 20 a shoe I’d be comfortable reaching for on longer runs or hikes where comfort really matters. Overall, I’ve been impressed with the combination of comfort, stability, and responsiveness. They feel built to handle different surfaces while still being comfortable enough that I’m not thinking about my feet the entire time. I received the Brooks Cascadia 20 through an ExpertVoice sampling opportunity in exchange for my authentic feedback.
