I have loaded this bag with up to 45# of backpacking equipment without any issues. After a mile of hiking the bag becomes part of you. Lots and Lots of comfort. The bag is not fully waterproof, but what bag is? I have always had to use a dry sack to keep essentials dry. Yes, This isn't the lightest bag out there...but the bag construction is very durable. The bag has never needed a repair. This bag does not have a lot of gimmicks- which I like. It keeps everything simple. I have owned this bag for 2 seasons now and just purchased another one for my daughter. Why? Because its comfortable and durable.
Bought this pack a couple of months ago to replace my old Dana Design from the 90s. Already put 100 miles on it. Compared to my oldpack, it's lightweight, easy on the shoulders, and can carry everything I need. I've improvised a shockcord strap on the top of the hood, and a bungee cord system at the base of the pack for additional items, but rarely use them. The pockets on the side are perfect for my water bottle and camp chair. Love the separation system from the base of the pack and the main compartment. Has been able to handle heavier packouts (40+, as shown in picture) with ease. Would definitely recommend and may purchase women's pack for sister in the future b/c of my experience.
I finally broke down and started converting to a more minimalist approach with my gear (I have been clinging to my tried and trusty 30year old Kelty frame pack) my back and legs are so thankful. I tried on a lot of more expensive packs but thought for comfort, price and reputation this pack would be sufficient. Well it has proven to be an excellent addition. Great fit, simple design, plenty of room for a 3 or 4 day trip. I also bought the Storm lite solo tent and I am very impressed with the Note Face brand. I am sure I will get years of use from these products. (Never found a use for the bottom zipper access)
Guys let me know if they include rain cover in the package i saw in youtube the older version of terra 65 has rain cover included. In my terra 65 it doesnt have rain cover in the package let me know if you have it included in your bags thanks.
I wanted a backpack that's trong and versatile, lightweight yet has all the bells and whistles. Built for expeditions and designed to last with lifetime warranty, The Terra 65 was the answer to my JMT thru hike I'm planing for this summer. I use the backpack on almost daily basis for training and I couldn't be happier with the suspension system. Very comfortable and centered on your body it feels like it can handle a winter Alpine Climb with ease. The best thing I love about this pack is the pockets and loops... The North Face thought of everything and probably had the long distance trail hiker in mind as well. Perfect for weekend getaways and thru hikes, The Terra 65 pack is my choice for Mountain Trail Adventure. #neverstopexploring
Pack works great if loaded with less than 30lbs, but get anymore than that and the adjustable height system begins to fail. I took it in a shake down hike the week I purchased it with about 40lbs of kit in it and the adjustment mechanism began to peel apart. Promptly took it back and exchanged. Otherwise, good materials and good size for its price, but i feel there are much better choices.
this is my second terra, i used to have a older version the 55L, now i bought the 60L i was a little concern if it was going to be to big to bring it into the plane, but i already travel fro the US to South America and from South America to Europe and i had no problem to bring it with into the airplain. For traveling is excellent the perfect size and for going out for adventures to the mountain is even better, i usually use it for hikes or riding my bike with it, really confi, reliable materials i just love this back pack.
I bought this pack maybe 7 years ago for a two month trip to Asia, hoping that on my return I’d use it to kickstart a backpacking hobby. In that regard I’ve been very pleased with it. I’ve hiked it many miles across many national forests and parks all over the country. It’s held up every step of the way. At the price point I’m impressed with its durability and comfort. It’s got no problem comfortably handling the extra and often unnecessary loads we tend to hike out when we’re first getting our feet wet. All in all a great beginner or occasional hiker pack. I’m upgrading to something much lighter but I’m going to hang onto this one for those times I feel like bringing a chair, a fishing pole, and the kitchen sink.
Great backpack which has see me through a month of backpacking Europe along with a backpacking trip to the Canadian Rockies. It was small enough to fit as a carry on for my trip to Europe yet big enough to see me through a week in the Rockies. The pack has plenty roomy side, and top pockets to keep everything organized and within reach while I'm on the go. One downside is there aren't many outside loops for carabiners or other hanging attachments. I only noticed this while backpacking when I had troubles finding spots to attach some of my more awkwardly shaped gear (ex. Hatchet for chopping firewood). Overall, I love this pack and will be using it for my travels in the future.
Needing something to take exclusively as a carry on for a trip out of the US, I searched and searched for something that would not only fit the items that I needed to take but something that I could wear as a backpack. Not being experienced in all things hiking wear, I visited my local REI in hopes of finding just the right thing. As always I was heading into the store a half hour before they closed, only days before leaving and was a bit disappointed not in products but on the price I would have to spend. I literally went around one last corner in the store, in an area that really had nothing to do with backpacks, and there this bag was. I looked at the price, it's features, and having done a tiny bit of research, the liters it would carry. All I can say is WOW! This bag was perfect!! It fit nicely as a carry on, I was able to pack 100% of everything I needed for the 9 days of travel, and I even had enough room for a few take home items I purchased. I'm excited to use this for some beginning hiking excursions I plan on doing soon. Great product for an awesome price!!
