The Unbound is a very specialty lightweight backpack. This is a waterproof DCF backpack that has no internal pockets, no hydration port or sleeve for a bladder, and no load lifter straps on the top. That being said it is available in 4 diff sizes so you can try to dial in the perfect fit for you. I did like this and loaded it out with a 3 night, 4 day lightweight hiking kit at around 24 pounds w/ food/water all in just fine. It wore comfortably and fit well, I also liked the style of the outside pockets as I prefer my gear inside rather than all outside. The 40L here is truly 40L in the pack, with an additional 9L in the outside pockets. I would have been relatively happy with this as my pack. That being said, I missed my hydration port, no internal pocket made me uncomfortable b/c I really like to secure my valuables/id/keys in that pocket for easy access/safety. Ultimately, I decided to return and now use a Hyperlite Mountain Gear Southwest 40L pack instead - which has internal hang loops that you can add a removable inside pocket (for my valuables) and a hydration "hydroport" with water bladder hangloop. Make sure you do your homework before choosing, these are expensive and HMG has a couple popular 35/40/55 L bags - make sure you choose the one that meets your specific needs before pulling the trigger.
