Rated 5 out of 5 by from great MTB shorts great material for hot weather work; light, wicking. padded liner works great. good fit for an athletic male with non-stick legs, look OK for non-biking casual wear. bought the first set locally and given the reviews, immediately took them for a hard test drive (mostly on singletrack with some technical). about to order my second set. regarding the complaint about the liner being attached by strings... cut the strings. a few of my other biking pants had the same strings; i think they're just there for loss prevention.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Shorts The color looks a lot more brown on my devices, but these are a darker green in reality. They work as advertised. I've seen the other reviews complaining about the inner linear attaching to the shorts and they are correct. There's an easy solution...cut the ties. The inner liner has to be washed on gentle cycle anyway. There is no difference if the ties are cut and the shorts were probably designed to have you cut the ties when you receive them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine Yes folks you carefully cut the stitching that connects the outer shorts straps to the liner. That leaves you with a stand alone liner and shorts with hanger straps. Ask your wives about hangar straps. Lots of their clothes come with them. The shorts are very flexible for fit. There are Velcro waist adjustments inside. The chammy seems a little light but since I never have butt pain (for up to 50 miles) I'm fine with that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shorts I bought a pair of these shorts. I cut the inner padded material out so they are two separate pieces. The shorts are great, they wick very well and dry fast. I ended up buying several more as I use them at the gym and while biking. The waistband is adjustable and there is elastic material to help the shorts stretch while biking. Highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great value, very comfortable I bought these for recreational riding with my wife and or the dog, mostly roads and parks. nice zipper pockets, great color. the padded liner is good, cut the strings and seperated them, but hey liners are liners..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Two pairs failed - I did love them though First pair returned when the leg zipper kept bursting. Second pair going back now due to the waist button breaking in the delicate wash (or dryer). Both pairs were good to me otherwise. Great material, liner was a bit thin but did the trick. Liked the belt buckles so I could keep things taut.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from M L XL etc sizing is a bad idea for the outer pant I have another pair of novara bike shorts that I love, in size 34. I ordered the right size according to the sizing table, but the outer pants were way too large, and you don't want to use a belt on a bike pant. Should have stuck with normal sizing!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Men's Sweep Double Bike Shorts After moving to the Western Slope of Colorado, my Wife and I have been doing a lot of mountain biking. I needed some shorts with padding(love that we have an REI here in Grand Junction). I like the look, and fit of the shorts, and they serve their purpose. However, as mentioned in other reviews, it would be nice if the liner could be removed. I'll be fixing that. My only gripe.

Are these going to be available in Large size or are they going away permanently?

The Novara line is being discontinued. The Co-op Cycles Mountain Shorts - Men's are very similar to the Sweep: https://www.rei.com/c/mens-bike-shorts

I'm 6'1" and weigh about 220 - 225 and normally wear pants with a size 40 waist. Should I order the L or XL. I like my bike shorts to be a little baggy and not to tight, but I know these have a liner as well.

Asked by: Patrick
Unfortunately, we are unable to determine what size you need based on your height and weight. We recommend comparing your body measurements to the size chart to determine what size will fit you best. Based on a 40" waist size, an XL is the best choice for you.
