Love the fitment. I'm not the average cyclist build more of a sprinter build. These fit my legs the best.
The material and craftsmanship of the lower short are good. Legs have slight compression and the gripper at the leg opening keeps them in place. The straps are thin and wimbley, but good for heat and sweat. The two pockets at the rear are great, but on the small side. Similar shorts have two or three large pockets that are full size which allows the use to carry another water bottle, phone and food. Didn't realize they came with leg pockets. I feel they're just plain silly adding bulk on the leg. A solution in search of a problem. The big negative is the chamois which is like wearing a diaper. in the last 10 years or so, Pearlizumi has essentially cut the corner with the chamois unless spending over $200. I will be returning them.
Took them out on a 35-mile ride a day or two after receiving them. My route included rough roads, climbs. Amazing. Snug and super comfortable. No saddle-soreness at all. Colors are better looking in person. I got the Bitter Chocolate ones. These are significantly better than my other Pearl Izumi bib shorts. I'm an inch or two over 6 feet, 200 pounds. The large size fits me well. I am looking forward to using the pockets on longer rides.
Pearl did a great job on these- all good bibs are expensive and these are as well. However the quality is great and chamos is comfortable. Having side pockets is brilliant and now a must have for all future bibs as far as I am concerned- I wish the chamos was dark gray orange not a great color
Hmmm, meh. They are alright but extremely hot here in Northern California. I sprung for the cargo short version. I like pockets without having to wear a jersey. The pockets are nice and deep and I think the right one is actually two pockets in one. However, they roasted me on my 90 degree ride. Also, makes me wonder about the weight difference between the "expedition" and there other options. I think they are made with heavy material than their standard shorts / bibs.
Very good value as usual and love the side pockets - excellent padding
I am really impressed with the PEARL iZUMi Expedition Bib Shorts, especially because of the incredible thigh pockets! I’m 5'9", 190 lbs, with a 40" circumference and a 30" inseam. I went with a Medium, and it is definitely snug. I feel like if I were down to 180 lbs, the Medium would be absolutely perfect, but at my current weight, a Large might have been a slightly better fit. On my first wear, the shoulder straps felt quite tight, but by the second ride, they stretched or settled in nicely and were no longer an issue. The chamois is super comfortable and provides great support, My only minor complaint is the leg length. The product website lists the inseam at 10.5" regardless of the size, and they ride just a tiny bit longer down the thigh than I would ideally prefer. Overall, a fantastic, high-quality bib with great utility! Highly recommend, but you may want to size up if you are on the edge of the size chart.
I bought these to get back into training after an injury that caused me to gain weight. I was able to train on my bike trainer without becoming sore. no saddle soreness so I could put my effort into training.
Fits well for someone with 34 inch waist and is 5’- 8”. The pockets are roomy and the back pockets along the rear panel are a nice added bonus for stashing gels. The pad is cushion but not over done.
So Gary, so good!! Great fit, quality padding and the pockets are a definite plus!!
