Lack of leg grippers is a big disadvantage. The shorts crawl up your leg as you ride. These work fine as a liner short.
These are truly awful. I bought these just for short rides on my trainer and they aren't even good enough for that. The seams around the waistline are especially horrible and itchy to the point I have to tuck my shirt in for them to be wearable at all.
There’s something not quite right about these shorts: way to much fabric between crotch and waistband means I can pull them up to my rib cage, padding is good, but I think it’s about an inch to far forward, probably good if you’re in a sprinting position, but otherwise hmm. I spent time adjusting them while riding, and couldn’t find anything that was not bothering me in some way.
Yeah, like others have said, they’re very average. There’s nothing pro about them. I just use them with my indoor trainer so they are adequate. The waist band pulls all the way up to my rib cage, so slightly restrictive in hard efforts. The padding is soft and somewhat thin, so not that helpful. I prefer the firmer pad of a Pearl Izumi. Also the pad doesn’t fully cover the area where the pelvis contacts the bike seat, unless I’m fully down in the hoods.
I can feel the chamois moving around when I walk. It feels a little weird, plus the texture on the seat of the pants is so slick that it makes it hard to stay in the right position on the saddle.
