Skimping on size compared to earlier versions?
I have purchased 5 pairs of these shorts since 2014, and all of them have fit well and lasted a long time. I am still able to wear four of them, though the pocket zippers have finally started to fail and come unglued after a decade or more of use and laundry. Yes, I put them in the dryer rather than line dry them like the tag says to do. Five stars for that version of the Zoic Ether 12" shorts--they are durable and still fit great in the 2XL size. But this latest pair in 2XL I bought in May of 2026 is not as big as the others. Even with the adjustable waist as loose as possible, the shorts are too tight in the waist. The crotch area rides too high as well. As I lay the new pair over the old pair, the gusseted crotch is about an inch higher on the new pair compared to the old pair. That isn't going to work. I checked the internal size markings and tags, and these are 2XL shorts--a smaller size was not shipped by mistake. The 2XL is simply not as big as it used to be, so I will have to return them. Disappointed that the quality is not consistent at this price level. I hope Zoic figures this out because I really liked the earlier version of these shorts.
I like them well enough, this is my second pair.
This is my second pair of this brand. My only suggestion is that each side of the pant be identical to the opposite. That way, you can set up storage suited to your needs and your dominate hand.
