Tastes great, makes liquid
These taste great and really hit the spot post workout. However a few hours after eating this I had a horrible rumbling in my tummy followed by explosive diarrhea. Just to be sure I had another one the days after, exact same effect. Not sure what the deal is because a week later I tried another and again it cleaned my guts out. I don’t know that I have any allergies so I’m not sure why it had this effect on me.
Tummy rumble
Ugh, I was so excited to find these cookies but had horrible smelling gas and explosive diarrhea all night from them.
Looked good on the shelf but turned to crumbs
Just put 130 miles on the trails of Glacier Park. When put into a daypack with camera equipment, a first aid kit, etc, they quickly crumbled. I’d bought a few, and ate the rest back at the cabin. They didn’t taste bad - just weren’t useful on the trail.
Favorite flavor so far.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had my first experience with these cookies at the Charlotte Airport. Needed a quick breakfast before my flight, and the clerk suggested these cookies. Had a cup of coffee, and the whole cookie, and wasn't hungry until dinner, skipping lunch. Currently having half a cookie with coffee in the morning, and the other half at lunch, and it fills me. The calorie count is pretty high when using for one meal, but it certainly works for me, splitting the cookie for 2 meals. I seem to be more regular using your brand. Nice to have some extra protein as well.
Allergy Friendly Protein Treats
I think REI overcharges for these cookies. I can usually find them for $1.50 at the gym, walmart, sprouts and other places. That being said if they are ever on sale it's worth it to order from REI. I would rate these as a 5 but their product is not always consistent. For example, sometimes their cookies are overcooked and other time they are under-cooked. That being said I have tried almost every flavor of Larry and Lenny cookie and found most of them really great. I would NEVER recommend taking these backpacking as they fall apart and don't hold up well to being squished or crumpled. They still taste great but will not be in an easy to eat cookie shape. I have a plethora of food allergies yet I can actually eat these cookies, so for me it is like eating a store bought cookie (which never happens to me) and a light-on-protein bar into one. The best flavors: Lemon Poppyseed (sometimes moist), Double Chocolate (very soft-moist), Coconut Chocolate Chip (very moist), Oatmeal raisin (always soft-moist), Mint Chocolate (always soft-moist), Peanut butter Chocolate Chip (always soft). If you do not like dry cookies I would stay away from the regular chocolate chip cookie and peanut butter. Pumpkin pie is also a bit dry, some might say dense, but I have found it to be fairly soft still. If you do not like artificial flavored cookies I would suggest never eating the apply pie flavor, it is the only one that truly does taste artificial. I think it is because they used dried apples. It tastes like apples and cinnamon Quaker oats oatmeal. The other one you might not like is birthday cake. If the cookie is dry or dense try heating it in the microwave for 10 seconds and you'll be shocked by how yummy and gooey it turns out! This is especially true of the double chocolate and apple pie flavor. Your life will be forever changed if you started heating a lot of your protein bars in the microwave. :-)
A little less pleasing to me, but my daughter and son-in-law love them
It's a commitment to buy a box of 12, so make sure you like them before you go all in. I didn't, and regretted it, but my kids were pleased. My only complaint is with the flavor/texture combination. There's an unexpected flavor in the mix between the chocolate and the cookie dough flavors that seems to overshadow the other flavors too much for my taste. But my kids really like them, so decide for yourself. The cookie size is smaller than their more well known ones, and I think it's a fair size, too.
Great snack
Great for people with dairy allergies. Better to eat half and save other half for later.. Sugar is a downside.. But good testing cookie!
As a cookie, not tasty
Not for me. Didn't taste good. I appreciate that it's more environmentally friendly but I won't be eating this again.
Better than expected
I was reading the reviews and had very low expectations, but gave it a try anyways (because the macros are amazing) and omg! I’m so glad I did! It looks just like the picture and is soft and chewy! It isn’t as sweet, so if you want a really sweet cookie, this ain’t it. I, however, like that it isn’t in your face sweetness. The only downside to this cookie is the slight protein powder taste. This definitely isn’t as good as an actual cookie but it is still really good! :)
Overpriced
The product is good, but REI charges double what Academy charges for the same product. Why?
