Do not buy Oboz Sphinx
This boot should be a recall! Please do not buy this boot. The laces no matter how they are tied or tucked will get caught on the hook on the side of the opposite boot. I fell HARD at the airport and had to have a stranger unhook my connected boots. It was a week before I could comfortably walk without painful knees. This is a serious design flaw. Would not allow me to put zero stars.
Love this boot
I needed a pair of boots for snowshoeing and because of low store inventory this was the only boot I could purchase. What a stroke of luck as I was on my way out of town for a 3 day backcountry yurt trip. This boot worked like a charm. My feet were warm and dry the entire trip. The toe area has room for toes to move and is very comfortable with a pair of wool socks and gaiters. They worked well with my snowshoes. I did have to change out the under shoe strap on my gaiters to a piece of paracord to adapt to the boots sole.
Great boot if you’re not klutzy
I’ve used these boots for walking to work in snow and snowshoeing in -20°F temps, and they work really well. Very warm, dry, and comfy. I do have naturally narrow feet though. One problem that I experienced, if you don’t tie them tight enough, the metal hooks on the side can catch the lace of the other boot. This happened to me and it tripped me up and I fell SO hard on concrete. Luckily just ended up with a bruised ego. But tie the boots tight!!
Cute, warm, comfortable
I wanted a shorter winter boot that would be warm and practical for the Minnesota winter. These meet my criteria plus they are cute.
A Great Winter Boot
These boots are lightweight but keep your feet very warm. A drawback is that it can be a little hard to keep them tightly laced and then my feet tend to slide in them. But I have no blisters and they are comfortable. I walk about 3 miles a day in them. They are good in snow and one ice.
Dog Walking Approved
These boots are quick and easy to get on and off. I have walked the dogs in them through rain, sleet, snow, and cold and have found them to be comfortable, sturdy, warm, and dry. I was hoping they’d also work for snowshoeing with wool socks and gators, but on a recent snowshoeing trip in sub-zero temperatures- my toes were cold. I think they might have been ok if I had worn a pair of toe warmers.
Oboz boot
This last was too narrow, even in a larger than normal size. My low rating only refers to my experience. The boots appear to be a fine boot for the right foot.
Snow Boots
I used these boots for urban walks. Only use one layer of socks because the shoes are insulated and can hurt your feet without walking. These boots hurt on my back of my ankle because its durability. I am not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing. These are only worth it if they are used for heavy snow. These boots will keep your feet warm and dry at the mountains. But, I would not recommend it for city use, hence does not snow as much as before...not worth it in the long-run.
Poor quality
After only one weekend of use, the rubber at the toe started to detach from the shoe. Otherwise, they were comfortable.
AVOID
Comfortable shoes but If you are not tying it all the way up. BE VERY CAREFUL BECAUSE I FELL PRETTY BADLY. MY SHOE LACES GOT CAUGHT ON THE HOOKS. I injured my knees because of that. I read couple of reviews about people falling the same way but never thought it would happen to me. Im in my 20s for reference and i dont have balance problems.
