new but not improved
Another “new” model of The Alpine. Alpine was marketed as a waterproof shoe. Anyone who owns them knows that even walking through dew wet grass was enough to soak them through. I was hopeful that this new version would address that failure, but due to other changes I’ll be returning them without a test. The toe box on the new version is narrower. The new speed lacers are a disaster; being almost closed due to the addition of a backstop. The fabric of the upper has been changed, but I won’t be keeping them long enough to know if that improves their water resistance. Xero does one manufacturing run a year. Even if they were to revert (which is doubtful considering the toe box shrinkage on other models) changes can’t be reversed until next year. I’m no longer a customer.
comfortable lightweight flexible winter shoe
These are fantastic! most comfortable snowshoe ive ever had, i wear them almost every day during winter months when im out and about in wisconsin. ive trudged through knee deep snow with perfectly dry feet. i absolutley love every xero shoes ive tried
Warm and Comfy
Bought these for my wife and she LOVES them! Keeps her feet super warm in the sub-freezing Ohio winter. She wears them all the time!
Great hiking shoe for winter.
I bought these shoes this week. Wore the right out of the box. Hike 5 miles and they felt great. I usually wear a size 9, and these were a 9. I felt they were slightly bigger but it worked out. Lots of room in the toe area. I didn’t test in wet conditions. But I love them. They felt so light on my feet but enough cushion on the sole of my feet.
Roomy, warm, grippy, comfortable, great!
These boots are roomy, warm, grippy, comfortable, great! I spent three hours today shoveling snow, and these boots were completely up to the task, remaining waterproof and warm. I found it easy to keep my footing in snow, sleet, and freezing rain. (I also bought these boots in-store two days before the storm, and while REI was hopping with frenzied shoppers, the staff was calm and helpful.)
