Let me start this by acknowledging that I am not, and won't be, a runner. That said I am starting hiking now that I am retired. I have suffered for years with tired and sore feet while traveling and walking long distances which has been so frustrating. I decided to go to a running store and get a fitting/suggestions and ended up with HOKA which are very comfortable but not enough when traveling. I went to REI, explaining my issues and these were suggested- I bought due to the great return policy for members. I absolutely love them and am so grateful that I trusted REI- my problem seems solved. I am going to get another pair that are not all weather because they seem to run on the hot side so will use them in cooler weather. LOVE THESE!
Shoes are super comfortable. Too wide in the arch area - laces pulled super tight and causes folds over toe box area. But the main pro is something like an air pocket in the sole of the shoe which makes noise when stepping on uneven ground.
Absolutely love the color, fit, and quality of these shoes. I’ve hiked in them for a year now and they are so supportive and have amazing grip even on the steepest hikes. Fell in deep mud and my feet stayed dry. They’re also super cute, I love the pastel orange accents. Would 100% buy again!
Love the wide toe shape and it’s comfy- I bought for a decent price too!
Good shoe for everyday. I haven't tried hiking in them, but I'm sure they will be great. The toe box is wide enough and very comfortable.
This hiking shoe is amazing. It is finally (for me) the almost perfect hiking shoe. I hike with the original insert, but sometimes replace with a more arch sturdy insole. The wide toebox accommodates my bunion feet nicely! The waterproof feature is great, without all of the sweat from a traditional Gore-Tex shoe. And these shoes are LIGHTWEIGHT!!!! They have already gone with me many miles and have plans for many more!
I ordered these Lone Peaks because they are listed as all weather. I have 2 pairs of Torin 8’s which fit fine with good toe room in the round toe box and ordered these in the same size. The Lone Peak feels much narrower in the toe box and really hurts my toes, which was not relieved by anything I tried. The length was otherwise ok. Sadly I will return them.
I love these shoes and think they are a great hiker in dry conditions, however, they are NOT waterproof. I wore them in a downpour and they didn't hold up, but I was expecting my feet to get wet from that much rain. What I didn't expect, however, was for my feet to get soaked biking in a light most with these shoes on. I don't feel like they hold up against any amount of water, especially walking through damp grass. And because they are going for a waterproof construction, these don't breathe very well either. I've tried out the waterproof altras and that shoe is stiffer and breaths even less, but holds up to rain and moisture way better. All that being said, I still selected this all weather show over the waterproof, but I will be needing a different shoe to perform in wet conditions bc I can't stand having wet socks. I think they shoe holds up great to dust and and sort of dry elements, but they lack the water resistant functionality.
These shoes have a zero drop, which didn't take me long to get used to, and a wide comfy toe box. This prevents squished toes, specially going down hill. Being water resistant, sand and trail dust stays out of shoes and socks and off feet. I switched to a Superfeet footbed for added comfort.
These are supposed to be good on packed snow per Altra website. They are not. they either get immediately clogged with snow, or just slide right across if it is too packed. And way too hard to run on the roads. Maybe they would be good on a non snowy trail. But not on snow or ice.
