I didn't think it was possible to find a shoe that was too narrow for me, but these are it! And there is definitely a reinforced seam that rests right at the top of my 5th metatarsal that pinches and will 100% leave a blister. Tread seems sticky and solid, low profile with a very light toe cap, so if you're into a very low profile trail running shoe and have an incredibly narrow ball of foot these *might* not cause you misery.
I’ve been a loyal Altra Superior customer for years, but unfortunately, the Superior 6 was a major disappointment. While the toe box still offers decent room, the upper is uncomfortably tight across the top of the foot. Even with the laces completely loosened, the material feels restrictive and constrictive. I ended up returning them and am now exploring other brands in search of a better fit.
Shoes look awesome. +1* for that alone I am a huge altra fan. I have like 10 pairs of lone peaks among other models. These shoes feel like garbage. They don’t run true to size, and even if they did, they feel like they are made with strictly inferior materials. I strongly suspect that this was an attempt to see how hard altra could ramp up the cashing in on their brand name with cheaply made products. Hugely disappointed even at this strongly discounted price. Returned without even feeling a tiny bit guilty. These are bad shoes.
I like that they are lightweight and not a lot of bulk on the sole, but the depths of the shoe is very low. They end up squishing (pinching?) my toes (especially my pinky toes) and making them numb after a way. Unless you have very low profile feet, these shoes probably won't be comfortable.
I ordered my usual size in Altra. This particular pair is slimmer than most of my others (and I have quite a few). The tongue of the shoe is permanently attached on the left side making it difficult to stuff my foot into the shoe. The material doesn’t stretch at all, really an odd design.
Too tight! Do not fit like old Superiors. My Superior 4.5s fit perfectly, but these are so tight I barely got my foot in. Then I loosened the laces all the way and realized it wasn’t the laces but the actual shoes weren’t made wide enough.
Love the fit of the Altra brand but this style didn’t work for me cause the tongue flap is attached on one side making it too hard for me to get in the shoe. I have both high arches and a high in step. Had to return them.
This is an excellent shoe. I have a really hard time finding shoes that are supportive and soft with some flex since I have a fused ankle. This shoe has truly change my life and given me all of that and more.
This is the 4th pair of Altra shoes I’ve ordered. It is the first pair that did not fit. Tooooo small. Now I will have to deal with the hassle of returning the, and trying to find another pair.
I bought this hoping to get strong grip for technical trails, comfortable for running sans socks, sturdy enough to last and this are PERFECT. I should say that I am more of a minimalist shoe person and this still allow me to feel the ground but without feeling the sharp edges of the terrain which is absolutely brilliant. I honestly might buy another pair to keep for later as it is hard to find shoes that feel so great and finding them a year later might be challenging. LOVE them
