Solid unstoppable pack.

I'm a large format vintage film photographer who specializes in capturing still images of Alaska's alpine regions and forests. My gear sees some hard use and unfortunate abuse due to the nature of my work. Although I buy quality gear, much of it has a pretty short life given the nature of what I am doing. Except for my Mystery Ranch Terraframe 50. My normal summer load-out includes 50-60 pounds of awkwardly-shaped photography gear, as well as personal and safety gear. The Terraframe does a great job of moving the weight of these awkward loads to my hips and keeping everything balanced as I move off trail through the temperate rain forests and up the scree-covered slopes of Alaska's Chugach Range. It gets dumped in the dirt and mud, wedge behind rocks, tied to cliff faces, hauled up exposed vertical slopes, and put in all kinds of awkward positions so I can safely access and work with my prized vintage camera gear inside. Other than being a little dirtier than when I bought it, the Terraframe looks and functions like new. I couldn't be happier with this pack or the Mystery Ranch pockets (gummi bear holsters) I bought to compliment it. I can't recommend this piece of gear enough and am very comfortable using it situations where failure simply isn't an option.

Great first trip

Only done one trip thus far, but that was a week of backpacking/back country camping around CO & UT. Did around 10 miles a day. Did 2 days hiking with stuff packed in an ozone scent crusher on the overload, the rest without it. Outfitted mine with a hip bag, a ripstop, and a surplus admin pouch. Comfort, access to goods on this pack are superb. Thus far no issues from a durability perspective but this only has 1 trip under its belt. Fabric and features seem of good quality, so I anticipate many years of use. The only hitch I was about the frame; because it juts out higher than the top of the pack when it's got contents removed and relatively 'sharp', I snagged the mesh on my tent in Canyonlands. The ants coming in and biting me let me know to go ahead and grab that duct tape. Not really anything the manufacturer needs to do, just part of my transition from a different design. Oh and last if you use the overload feature be mindful if you carry a reservoir, your line will have to be longer to drink while carrying. I was able reroute it and clip high on the shoulder to get a drink, but you may want to test this on your design before hiking out to ensure it works for you. I added a few photos of my capacity test, my pack I out there. My dimensions - 5'10" 140 lb female. Fits perfect.

Comfortable and versatile!

This pack is massively adjustable, the ability to quickly make micro adjustments of the torso length means you can get dialed in easily on the trail. I tested the overload feature with a heavy 20lb tent and it was still comfortable for a 1000' climb. Even carrying a mattress of a bed roll everything stayed secure thanks to ample straps. Quality is excellent, highly recommend.

Like a Boss

DISCLOSURE: I am very well aware that MysteryRanch makes incredible awesome MIL packs specifically engineered for tactical/hostile environments. With that in mind... Because of my unique role, purchased the Terraframe hoping it would cross worlds really well. I am out-of-my-mind happy with this pack. First of all - just like listed on site, demo'd in videos, etc., this pack has insane space inside as well as build-out options on the exterior. For my needs, I can deploy the shelf and store a plate carrier whether going on a ruck, establishing FOP, etc. It's excellent. Cinching down on the straps keeps the weight near the frame and doesn't hinder pack storage at all. Here's the insane part: I can even stash the assault pack inside the Terraframe with plenty of space leftover. For example, I'm rockin' a K19 with a proprietary assault pack that attaches to the carrier itself. So I can haul the plate carrier, assault pack, and all necessary gear in the Terraframe - and do so comfortably! - and then when ready, deploy the shelf, grab the assault pack, and I'm ready to go. Can't say enough good stuff about this pack!

Roomy and comfortable

I've had this pack for about a month now. After adjusting it for a perfect fit I went for a snowy day hike with a full compliment of overnight hiking gear as a test. The suspension is fantastic, didn't notice the ~45 pounds of weight on my shoulders at all, instead it was distributed comfortably on my hips. Seems to be able to fit quite a bit, appears a bit larger than my brothers 50 liter Kelty Redwing. Great zippers as well, hiked for an hour in freezing rain with minor dampness in the pack. Despite being heavy for it's size, comfort of the suspension feels like it conceals the packs weight well. Overall can't recommend it highly enough.

So Good I Bought Two

I bought a terraframe 50 last summer to use as a backpacking pack, and I liked it so much I bought another for work this spring. I love the guidelite mt frame, it’s incredibly comfortable and versatile. I’ve removed the bag and just used the frame to pack fence posts. The three zip design is the best pack set up i’ve ever used, incredibly easy to get into quickly. The big water bottle holders and side strap are great for holding tools, and the daisy chain on the back is useful to lash things to. I have both bags set up with a stick it plus, water bottle holder, bear spray holder, and a large forager pouch. I also have a hunting lid I use when backpacking. While the pack is nearly perfect, there are still some improvements that could be made. The biggest thing is how the top of the bag attaches to the frame. It comes with buckles that clip it to the frame, but they are too long and the top of the bag will sink down. I used paracord to hold the top of the bag up, which keeps the top pouch accessible. I would also love to see a slightly larger 3 zip bag, and one that uses a more durable material like 1000d cordura. I would highly recommend this bag, and more broadly the guidelite frame to anyone looking for a serious pack.

Buy once, cry once

Solid bag. Probably should have gone with the 65 liter in hindsight but that's my own fault. The overload feature is a life save though. Simple enough that even I could figure it out too which is a huge plus. Solid waterproof as I got caught in a downpour followed by a snowstorm on a recent overnight venture. Shoulder straps were comfy with a 35lb bag on my 155lb scrawny self. Waist straps dug in pretty rough after about 7 miles but that's probably cause my flat rear end. A plethora of tensioning straps on the bag really come in handy and it has plenty of versatility to strap additional items to the outside of the pack. Overall, would highly recommend to anyone in the market. As my buddy would say, why simply survive when you could thrive?

Perfect hauler to Backcountry Base Camps

I do Trail Maintence volunteer work and I need to be able to carry my base weight gear of 16lbs, 8lbs/gallon of initial water plus 6lbs of food for 5 days. I then need to carry another 30lbs of Crew Gear some of which is oddly sized likes stoves & Rotopac. My daily work pack once in the Backcountry is a Six Moon Dedigned Minimalist. Your pack swallowed that pack whole allowing me to just pull it out once at Base Camp and head out to my assigned work area. The two packs combined make a perfect plug & play team for me. Big bulky weights yet instant access to an already packed daily work pack. I just leave my bladder in the Minimalist and thread it through your portal while hiking in initially.

Pack Is Amazing, Quality a little dissappointing

I have used this pack for two years now for backpacking a few times and 2 elk seasons here in Montana. Love the pack. It rides well, very adaptable to different tasks, have yet to run into any volume issues, and can handle heavy loads. Only downside is some of the quality. Had a buckle break on the bottom that was holding my sleeping bag while I was hiking last year. I am not sure how to replace it since the tab securing it is a sewn loop. Then one of the side pockets has torn open. Not sure how it happened since I have only had a fly rod in that pocket. Would love to give this pack a 5 star, but for the cost, the quality is lacking.

So far it’s great.

I’ve had this pack for a month now, and it has become one of my favorite packs. I build trail professionally, so my pack has to be able to stand up to long hikes with heavy, sometimes awkward loads, and do so comfortably. It’s one of the very few packs that almost makes the weight disappear. I like the simple layout with minimal pockets, cavernous main pack, and the ability to flay the entire thing open to get at the stuff that always ends up at the bottom. The overload feature is quick and easy to use. Material feels durable, quality feels top notch. It sure has a lot of buckles, but it needs them to function as intended. Zippers are stiff, I’m hoping they loosen up as they break in. Other than that, I’m happy with it.
