Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor band design. This is my first activity tracker so I cant compare how it performs to other brands. However the band is poorly designed. My wrist is average size and I typically lock at near the 3'rd notch near the center. The band fell off from my wrist 3 days after having the device. I didn't notice the band fell off because I wore it daily and thought I lost it, however fortunately found it between the sofa cushions. After this incident, I have observed the lock mechanism sort of pops-out from the hole and I have to press it back into the band. Its a bit irritating. I use the device to track my steps and sleep pattern only so I cant speak about the other features.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from MoveIQ doesn't work REI associste recommended the Vivofit3 because I wanted an activity tracker that I could wear while swimming. I also cycle a lot, and MoveIQ feature is supposed to be able to recognize when you are swimming or cycling. Well, it does not work. I contacted Garman customer support at the suggestion of REI and was told that the tech desk will "research the issue." and get back to me. They had was three weeks ago. There are numerous reviews on Amazon about how this feature does not work and Garmin's unrespobsiceness to their complaints. This seems to be a case of miskeadng and fraudulent advertising.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Distance indicated way off even after calibrating This is my third Garmin purchase, the other two are an Etrex 20 and a running GPS (Forerunner 10), both work great. This was a Birthday purchase for my wife. She likes the slim look and light weight. The biggest issue is the distance calculations are way off. We have hiked a number of trails and followed the calibration instructions, the distance is off by an average of 40% when compared to a GPS or published length of trail. Will be returning this unit to the store for something that works!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what I need it to I've had my Vivofit for almost a year now. I've never had a problem with the band coming off. The heart rate and steps are accurate (I've compared the tracking, manually and by yhe stats on my x9i treadmill). I have found the calorie count is slightly less than my previous Garmin watch, but it is close enough for the purposes I need it for. The MoveIQ has worked to identify whether I am walking or riding my back, but it when syncing to the app it does not register "active calories" consistently nor accurately. All in all it does what I need it to do.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I've had two of these now. The first one died in about 6 months. REI replced it for me and now the second one died in 13 months. Works pretty good as a pedometer when it functions. I won't be wasting my money on another one though. I tried replacing the battery but still won't work. I expected better quality from Garmin and was sadly disappointed. When I pay a $100 for something I expect it will last longer than a year.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK but not great This was an upgrade for me from the original Vivosmart. I found the setup of this to be more difficult than the original. I do really like there is a dual display on this one. Overall, it is good. It does the basics and that's really all I need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great product love that this syncs with all my other Garmin products. would be nice if they could integrate HRM into Vivofit - I love the fact that I can change the battery and don't have to charge this every week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tracks running miles I bought this for my wife. She wears it 24 hours a day. Very easy to sync to I phone. She likes that it does not have to be charged and is water proof.

Miss, when you say the band is not well designed, did you turn the circle part to lock it in? Even after doing that, does it still not work properly? dhopper, what other software issues did you notice? Did it track your sleep cycle well? etc? Thanks guys!

I did not write either of these reviews, but I can tell you that my Vivofit does not track cycling, nor does it track steps pushing a cart in a store. It seems that my arm has to be moving a lot before it recognizes the motion, so I try to remember to get the larger band out and put it on my ankle. However, it's been great for handling a lot of motion in the water!
