Very accurate and comfortable
I love this product. It’s really good.. Very accurate. And very comfortable
manufacturing flaw?
Why is REI still selling this product? I received it today and hoped to use it on my run tomorrow. Right out of the box, I broke it, trying to take the strap off of the rechargeable piece. I even reread the manual very carefully to see if there was a reason why it was so hard to take the detachable piece off the strap. The manual just says unsnap the headpiece before washing. So I just pulled and voila … broken heart rate monitor.. Looking up reviews, I see consistent complaints about the same problem going back months. A very frustrating experience courtesy of Garmin not pulling this product as they should
Perfect Accessory
Wonderful battery life, comfortable and accurate...I use this chest strap Garmin HRM 600 for activities that are really long and/or bumpy and physical where a watch may not be permitted or isn't as accurate. I use this chest strap with my apple ultra watch and it works very well. I can set the battery on my watch into low power mode, turn off the cellular and wifi, and with the Garmin HRM 600 I can do a GPS recorded physical activity while listening to music for over 24 hours without charging either. Nice combo!
Do not buy
I recently bought the HRM 600 to use with my Forerunner 265S and was excited to start using it but, unfortunately, the HRM 600 won't stay connected to the watch for more than 30 seconds. I was able to pair the devices (after waiting over an hour for software updates to finish downloading) but the watch basically loses the connection every time I connect them after less than a minute. If this is supposed to be Garmin's top-of-the-line HRM -- and it won't even connect with a brand new Garmin watch -- then my advice would be to go with a different brand. Knowing what I know now, that's what I wish I'd done...
New HRM 600-so far so good
My 3 year old HRM Pro Plus stopped working (likely due to my sweat and overuse) and they don't make them any longer. I saw that the HRM600 was the newest model. It's almost like they went back to the past as this one has a snap in module similar to what I had way back when with the HRM Dual (which still works, but didn't have all the newer features). In any event, I received it 3 weeks ago, and its easy to pair with my Forerunner watch. Pairing it with my rower wasn't as easy, but one quick phone call and we figured it out. Now its seamless getting a signal and I still haven't had to charge the module. Overall, very pleased having a working chest strap for my rows, runs and rides.
Poor battery life
It works fine, but I don't know why they decided to switch to a rechargeable battery, the battery life is very poor. I got 12 hours recorded, less than a month before having to charge again. It's a far cry from 2 months at 1 hour daily claimed (60 hours?). But with HRM Run I could forget about battery for half a year or so.
Works Exactly How It Should
The Garmin HRM 600 has been really good so far. Heart rate tracking is accurate and consistent during my workouts. Connecting and disconnecting the pod from the strap is actually very easy, so I am not sure why people were saying it was hard. Maybe Garmin quietly fixed the issue, because everything seems good to go on my end. I will definitely be using this for years unless it suddenly stops working. Then I am going to be annoyed.
Not overly impressed
Bought this HRM 600 with hopes of using my garmin 530 to stream my heart rate live to ensure I stayed in specific zones during training rides, but after more than 6 attempts with my garmin 530 and 10 attempts to use while on trainer streaming to my iPad separately, I have failed to see the data properly. (It so small and insignificant on garmin connect app when it does actually work and I have yet to see it on the data screen on my garmin 530 despite many attempts following garmin instructions) It hasn’t worked for my intended use and I’m disappointed. If all you need is hindsight heart rate data about a workout you start on your phone and stop after then review it is great otherwise it’s not of any use.
Strap connection point broke the first use!
The connection point between the HRM and strap are poorly manufactured. The fit is too tight and very difficult to remove. Ended up breaking trying to separate the strap and the HRM. Wish I read online reviews first as lots of people are having this problem.
Worthwhile Upgrade
I upgraded from the OG Garmin HRM that I’ve had for almost 6 years and there are several features that are vast improvements. Primarily, being able to recharge the device as opposed to changing the battery. The enhanced recording features give me much more data and accurate data to see more specific schematics of my running in which I can improve my skills. The comfort is great just like my older model but being able to remove the device portion when charging and wash the strap makes prolonging its life that much easier. Very happy with the new advanced HRM 600!!
