Perfect Watch for me - Instinct Crossover Tactical
I have had this watch for a month and couldn't be happier. I had the Instinct Crossover Solar and liked it but it was hard to see information on the face and the hands were very hard to see in the evening and at night. This watch remedies all of these issues. I love analog watches and this gives me the best of both digital and analog world. It also replace a Garmin Marq 2 Athlete and I don't miss that watch with the my new Crossover Tactical.
Best blend of fitness and sport watch
I converted to Garmin last year after about 5 years with Apple Watch, 2+ of which were the AW-Ultra. I never used the smart watch features of the AWU, but loved it as a fitness tracker. After switching to Garmin, I've realized why so many people say the Garmin is just a much better fitness tracker. And I have to agree. My first Garmin was the 51mm Epix Pro Gen 2 Sapphire edition. I wanted the Instinct 3, but the lack of a sapphire crystal made it a no-go. I'm not a small guy, but the 51mm Epix was just hard to wear all the time. The introduction of this watch fills all the gaps, and solidifies my conversion to Garmin. It's such a beautiful watch with the analog hands, and the physical details on the bezel/dial. It really looks a bit like a G-Shock, but has all the functionality of a Garmin. The AMOLED screen is vibrant, crystal-clear, and super easy to read in sunlight. I've worn this surfing, mountain biking, running, hiking, golfing, and just as an every day sport watch. Its size makes it super easy to wear all day, every day. I'm a watch enthusiast and I find my nicer watches remaining in the drawer more since getting this watch. I love the surf-tracking features; it tells me water temp, tides, how many waves I caught, how long each wave was, how fast I was going, etc. When Mountain Biking, it does a great job of tracking metrics. I thought I'd use the Epix for mapping, but never really did. So the minimal mapping on this isn't a big deal. I've also used this for golf and it does a great job keeping my score and telling me how far I am from the hole. Fortunately, it doesn't tell me how bad I am. LOL. When jogging, it does about as good as the AWU. I'd say the Apple does a little bit better with controlling headphones, music, etc. but this watch tracks running metrics better than AWU. I use an HRM200 chest strap when cycling and running for improved accuracy and connection with the watch never fails or drops. I did like the crash detection on AWU, and actually activated it once when I crashed. The lack of having it isn't really a big deal, but it was a bit reassuring on the AW. I don't think anyone will be surprised to know the battery life on this is miles ahead of the AWU. I'm charging about every 7-10 days, depending on how much I'm using the GPS. Indoor workouts disable the GPS so if I'm doing a lot indoors, I get closer to the 10 days. When fully charged, it says it has a 15 day battery life, but that's probably if you're not doing many workouts, especially not using the GPS much. But 7-10 days has been great. I wish Garmin would improve the charging to a wireless charger like AW, but they still have the old school connectors. It's not a big deal, but probably the biggest knock on it. Sleep tracking data on it is very similar to AW, but the battery life makes it easier to wear every night. I found my AW was always on the charger at night instead of tracking my sleep. So I get a lot more readings which makes it easier to track trends. Another win for the battery on this. I got the amber/copper/coffee color way and it's amazing. It's such a good looking watch. I'm so glad they included the sapphire crystal lens. I've banged it around a bit already and it shows no signs of wear. The tactical edition is the only way to get a black watch (the other one is a fairly light gray), and includes the green light. I really don't see what's "tactical" about it, but some people are willing to pay extra for it I guess. For reference, I have about a 7" wrist and the size of this watch is perfect. It's about the size of a G-Shock.
Very pleased - and actually helps sleep!
Well made, comfortable (even for wearing while sleeping), and I really appreciate the red light on the torch for middle of the night - not only is the red less jarring, but keeps me from grabbing my phone as a light then doom scrolling instead of falling back to sleep. Hands are easy to see, amoled screen shows just enough information, watch looks great with screen on or off. Checks all the boxes, for me, of an all day activity tracker that looks just as fine on a hike or in an office and holds a charge for well over a full week. I suppose one ask would be the possibility of a solar amoled for extended time between charges, but no complaints.
Very Disappointed – Constant Hand Misalignment
I recently purchased the Garmin Instinct Crossover AMOLED, and I am extremely disappointed with this model. The analog hands constantly fall out of alignment and need manual calibration several times a day. I have updated the firmware, verified time synchronization, performed manual calibration, and even completed a full factory reset — yet the issue continues. I own three other Garmin watches and have always been very satisfied with their performance, which makes this experience even more frustrating. The software and features are excellent, but this specific model seems to have a serious issues. Avoid this model!!! it is worthless
First watches had to return
First watches was with a bug - hands couldn't calibrate. Had to return. Second one works fine.
Stunning looks
Going on my 4th week with my Garmin Instinct Crossover. Love the options and user friendliness. Great investment.
Really enjoy the look and the feel
I got this watch about 2 weeks ago. Super easy to sync up with my phone. I had the Fenix 5 that was almost 10 years old and wanted an upgrade. I was looking for something that actually resembled a watch but also had notifications like the Fenix. I am getting older so not nearly as much need for moving maps, etc. This watch still has light years more functionality than I will ever use but the things it does checks everything on my list. Once again, look and feel were super important and this watch does that well. The price is quite reasonable considering my other options appeared to venture into several grand range. Totally recommend for those that want a watch feel and look rather than a computer screen attached to their wrist. Not hating on that but was ready for something a bit different.
2nd Garmin
My first watch was an instinct solar a few years ago. I gifted it to my son. Absolutely loved the simplicity and function. I currently have the Fenix 8 AMOLED and decided to get the Crossover AMOLED as a second watch. I use it when I’m doing very vigorous activities where I need durability…such as during softball practice, hiking, or biking. I’m loving it!
Instinct amoled
Have the original instinct solar, this is the hybrid I have been waiting for, aligned with the stars. Fits perfectly on a small wrist. I have looked for the perfect watch, this is it a balance of function and form. I am very happy with the end result of this amazing watch.
