Perfect smart watch and back up dive computer.
I’ve actually had the Descent Solar for several years. I’m an advanced diver, and have logged a couple hundred dives on this smart watch/diver computer. It’s my back-up computer to my primary Suunto and gauge dive computers. Over the years, we’ve had multiple times when dive computers fail, and as my depth, experience, and travels have grown, a backup smart watch type computer that had multiple functions is a perfect compliment. The best thing about it is that the user interface for dive profiles, logging dives, gaining important information like water temp, entry and exit point, heart rate, and other health stats far exceed my standard dive computers, and I can download all the detail on the Garmin Dive app. I’m upgrading to the Descent G2, and passing along my original Descent Solar to my son, who just got scuba certified. It is a GREAT backup computer.
Really Good Battery Life
I needed a new smartwatch because I was plugging my old one in every night. My sisters made the jump to Garmin in the last year and kept telling me my next smart watch has to be a Garmin! I also dive, so naturally I went for the G2 as a cheaper alternative to the MK series as it’s going to be my every day watch with the bonus of diving. Looking forward to taking it diving in a couple months. I am sure there are still features that I’m not using yet, too! If you are looking for a nice upgrade to other smart watches, Garmin is it! Oh and I’ve been complimented on the color a few times!
Garmin does it again
I have quite a few Garmin products: cycling computer, radar, and newest to the quiver: the Descent G2 Dive watch. I am new to diving - and having something reliable for autonomous adventures is very important. The functionality of this watch underwater surpasses expectations and I feel confident knowing that it's a reliable, accurate and easy to use watch when it matters most. It uses the same readiness score from other products (using heart rate and HRV) to provide a dive readiness score that is helpful in decision making. You can fully customize this watch and set it and forget it. I plan on getting a lot of mileage with this dive watch and am grateful to be armed with everything I need to descend and ascend safely.
Underwhelming
In all honesty I bought this because I wanted an upgraded dive computer but this offered features like my cheap Fitbit. While I haven’t had a chance to use it for diving, I wish now I would have spent half the money for a dive computer and just kept my Fitbit. It is what it is but I will not recommend buying this if you want to keep track of your fitness.
Ok so far
Still getting used to the G2. Will go on first dive later this month. Meanwhile, I've looked for a way to allow text messages to come through, but no other outside media like Facebook or Emails. No luck so far.
Great watch decent dive computer
So I have only had this for like a week or so. Only used it so far in a pool doing skills refresher. Can't wait to use it shortly on a "teal" dive.
Works Well
Haven't taken it on a dive yet but the other functions seem to be working as advertized. Would have liked a GPS readout to see exactly where I am.
Great first Dive Computer / Watch
This is the first dive computer I have ever had. It covers most of the basics that you want in a dive computer for the price.
