Great but no orange

Took it on a ski trip to southern Canada at around 5000-8000 ft. It was bitter cold 0 to 20 fahrenheit. This plus a light HH puffy, t-shirt and under armor base layer kept me toasty... In fact too toasty. I'm 5 '11" and 205 lbs with a dad bod and got the XL. Yes the arms are long even with the aforementioned layering but the length of the torso was spot on. I had plenty of room with layers and the pocket storage is great. Left hand zipper is a bit of a p.i.t.a. but how often are you zipping/unzipping the coat all the way probably not much. I primarily wanted the coat for torso length and the face guarding it does when all the way zipped and helmet capability and this coat absolutely nailed it! The only disappointing thing which seems to be a trend (a buddy has the same coat) is that it's straight black without a hint of color as the picture shows.

Great Jacket for guiding in the rainforest

I live and guide in South East Alaska temperate rainforest. I guide outdoors every day hiking from 1 to 7 miles, or am on a boat in the pouring rain for hours on end. I love this jacket. Sitting in the pouring rain it is hard to find good gear that holds up, hiking in the pouring rain is even harder to find stuff that doesn't retain your body heat but also doesn't allow moisture and water in. This jacket does just that. Keeps me warm on cold days and lets me breath on warm days. It has good pockets for gear and a double zipper for sitting down or using the bathroom. One caveat is there are not pockets you can put your hands into easily to warm up. I wish this had armpit pockets for warming up hands in. Other than that would buy this jacket again every single time.

Great Skiing Hardshell!

I knew I loved this coat after it survived a ski day full of rain, freezing rain, and heavy snow. It kept me totally dry, and my phone in the outside pocket was dry as well! The hood fits well over a helmet- I have full range of motion, and it doesn’t slip off at all. I am usually a size medium in Mammut coats, however, I sized up in this to accommodate extra layers. If you run super cold, you might want to do the same, however, you should be fine opting for your regular size otherwise.

excellent for resort skiing

overall an excellent coat. Fits over a large puffy down coat and the hood fits nicely over my helmet, But is annoying to use the hood if not wearing a helmet. Plenty of pockets for all your needs. the arm pit vents are really nice when skinning up in the back country. I like the safety signal diagram on the inside for a quick reminder of what to use. definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a long lasting coat.

Perfect Bad Weather Running Companion

This is an excellent jacket to keep you warm and protected from the elements during winter and shoulder season runs. I took it out during an ice storm a few weeks ago and with my micro spikes and this, I was warm and protected. Love the way that the hood stays secure.

Quality Ski Jacket

I really like the jacket for backcountry skiing. The horizontal zippers make it less likely to lose valuables when opening. It also makes a great resort jacket.

Light, waterproof and athletic fit

I've run in this jacket 5-6 times now- including twice in the rain and can attest to its waterproof claims. The fit is nice and athletic - can wear a layer or two if needed, but not too baggy over a tee. The sleeves hit right at the end of my wrists- over my watch no problem, but also have elastic if you want them to sit higher. I am 5'8", a typical size 4 and the Small is perfect. It is a no frills jacket- just one simple chest pocket that is large enough for a cell phone but I don't find the placement comfortable for heavier items. It's perfect for your dog bags, key fob, very small pair of gloves. The elastic for the hood is VERY snug- I wore the hood up over a brimmed hat in the rain and found the collar rubbing up under my nose. When I unzipped it slightly the elastic is still strong enough to pull the collar up even with my mouth- I know the design is to be lightweight but an option to adjust tension would be great. If I were to make this jacket perfect, I would add a vent and maybe built in hand covers- because the pocket is small there isn't a place to put any mitts or gloves. I also find it runs warm- wearing it low 30s to mid-40s I only need a T-shirt underneath it and have had to unzip to dump heat.

Not a perfect jacket, but darn close

I'll start with the cons, which is easy, because there aren't very many. The only real one is that the double zipper system on the main zip--while handy for quick restroom visits--is a noticeable pain when putting the jacket on. More often than not, I've put the jacket on, started to zip it up, then had to completely unzip it and try again because the free side didn't make it through the second shuttle. If you're the "put it on once and keep it on" sort, this is a negligible issue. If you're constantly taking the jacket on and off like I am, it's...well, still really not much more than an annoyance, but I really wish they'd left it off. The hood is also absurdly large. Even with a helmet, it's still so massive that it's actually a bit of a struggle to put it on, because it just wants to slide back off before you can cinch it down. Again, not hard to fix, but a bit annoying. Now for the pros: *SO* much pocket space. Very nearly the entire front of the jacket is pocketed, and I love it. The horizontal bottom pockets are less than ideal for sticking your hands in, but excellent for stuffing gloves into or holding all manner of snacks, drinks, or odds and ends, and the two chest pockets, one large and one...slightly less large, are also great for sticking phones or other similar items. The jacket is also remarkably breathable. I'm a lifty, and I repeatedly wore this underneath my uniform jacket because the uniform is severely lacking in waterproofing. This jacket kept me dry without being stifling, which was a pleasant surprise. Otherwise, it's been a pretty all-around solid jacket. Light, comfortable, packs down nicely in my work backpack. The cuffs are big enough to easily go around gloves, if you prefer under-the-cuff types, but velcro shut tightly enough to have no trouble with the over-the-cuff ones that I like. And did I mention the pocket space? Definitely a jacket that I'm looking forward to wearing for many seasons to come.
