I was able to fit test the Amber 65 Plus and it is amazing! The outside of the pack: -The hip belt is very comfortable and sturdy, it helps support my back when I'm out on my adventures. -The pockets on the side allow for easy access to items such as a book or water bottle. -The hip belt pockets fit my 6" cellphone. -There is a large mesh pocket on the front of the pack that allows room to stuff a light jacket or fleece. -There is a small pocket on the top of the pack to stash keys, sunscreen or small items. The inside: - There is a divider compartment for a sleeping bag and the divider can be removed. -There is a small pocket on the inside flap of the pack that holds a rain cover and has extra room for small items. -The pack allows for inside access from the top and zippered area where a sleeping bag can be stored. This pack is perfect for a weekend to multi day backpacking trip or getaway!
I’m 5’4” 260lbs and typically a 2X-3X in clothing. I’m very relieved that I found this pack before my first backpacking trip! I did 30 miles with this bad boy and I have no neck, back, or shoulder pain whatsoever. Hip belts were easily accessible and great storage for my phone. This also fit my large bear canister without an issue. Again, definitely a relief to have found something made for plus sizes after having to return the first pack I ordered which absolutely did not fit me. Looking forward to seeing more options for more bodies in the future!
I bought this for my first backpacking expedition. I met my sister in Alaska and we hiked Resurrection Pass trail. I am very inexperienced, so I can not really compare this to other multi day packs, but I am in love. We did it!
After purchasing it over 6 months ago, I was finally able to put it to use. Bag held up for a 2 day backpacking trip. I’m not sure if it’s just me but the chest strap came of 2x during my trip and was difficult to slide back in. I didn’t bother to make too much of an effort to slide it back on until I was at resting point. Pack load was 33lbs and held well. I doubt I will be testing the limit of that load anytime soon. The waist pockets were great though I thought it would be slightly larger capacity. I am glad I found this as my torso length is shorter than most and went through many brands to find a good fit with. Glad someone suggested Gregory Packs!! I will be adding the water reservoir to my pack as I didn’t initially. I hope the water reservoir is easier to fit than my current non-Gregory brand.
Awesome pack! Love the look and colors. Love the feel and comfort. This is my first backpacking pack and I'm impressed with the ease of the pack. Easy to adjust and has many great pockets. Really happy.
I really enjoy the way this pack fits my plus size body. I am 5’ 5.5” and 277 lbs. I can reach the hip pockets and they open and close easily. The straps do not dig into me the way my Osprey Viva did and it works better for me than my Granite Gear Perimeter did. I still can’t reach the water bottle pockets but that is a problem even thin people have with their packs so that isn’t a big issue. I appreciate that it came with a rain cover.
Throwing a review for regular size pack since many reviews here are about the plus sizes. Bought it for my Grand Canyon backpacking trip 5 days 45miles rim to rim on remote trails. I have the medium. Pack weight ranged 27-42lbs for food and different volume of water carried depending on water source. Heaviest day included 12lbs 6L water 8-9hours The pack worked really well for my needs. 65L needed for 7.5lb of food in the steel mesh sack mandated by GC plus water. No bear canister. The pack design isn’t unique. It was the outlet with 20% and the fit. Rain cover is included which I had to use briefly. I tried several other brands but this pack fitted me and I had to micro adjust throughout the trip. I mentioned remote unmaintained trails because I’m about 5’ 3” and there were tall steps to go up and down. The pack carried well. Plenty of attachment points.. I used mini carabiners and releaseable zip ties to attach go zero nomad5 to the front and later on the lid of the pack to charge. The lid has two compartments accessed thru the zipper on the outside and a zipper on the underside where raincover is stored. I kept my sandwich bag wallet, plastic bagged documents eg permit in the underside compartment. Pack was roomy but I was still running out of space when carrying 6L that I strapped tent to bottom. Biggest dislikes were the sternum strap is too short and buckle location to the side interfered with my shoulder phone pouch or my drink tube. Shoulder straps don’t have the 3/4 webbing like other brands that I can use to attach pouches and drink tube clip. Hip belt pouches were decent. Not the easiest to zip Overall good pack. I was gentle with it.
Comfortable and perfectly sized! The color is darker than the picture but I love it more! The whole bag just fits my body better.
I received the amber 65 plus size today and when I tried it, I nearly teared up while doing a happy dance! I find that many bags are not good for those who are overweight, like myself. I'd like to do an overnight backpacking trip and was having trouble finding something that was too snug and caused discomfort a few miles into the trail. I was on the hunt for something that was a little bigger on the hip belt area. in addition to amber 65 being very high quality, with a rain cover, plenty of pockets, and storage, but it had PLENTY of space on the bottom belt for my bigger midsize section. i adjusted the bag and packed it with my gear and it felt incredible. I also felt more confident that I have a bad that fits my body type. Im glad that Gregory made a bag to keep people at my size moving! Thank you so much!
This pack is great especially because Gregory it fits up to a size 6x. The straps are a bit further apart making it sit nicely on my shoulders. The hip belt pockets have been moved forward to fit the longer extension to the waist straps, which I LOVE. I can finally get to all the things in the hip pockets way easier and quicker. It’s a tubular style pack. It’s gotten me through the sierras and I’m happy with it. Overall, I enjoy this pack.
