Was very impressed with the quality of this tent. Got caught in a bad rainstorm with three other tents and this was the only one that didnt fail or leak at all. plus the height made it feel more spacious when we had to cram additional people in to wait out the storm.
This tent has a design flaw in that it is very difficult to get the small roof support pole to fit into place. Also the cross poles are not sturdy enough to resist moderate winds. They bent severely in a 15 mph breeze on the first night I used it and I had to send it back. Really spoiled my trip. I’ve owned one other Big Agnes tent, a Bunk House 4, and payed $400 for that one too. While it was excellent at holding up to wind and rain, It did not last and the fly disintegrated due to UV damage after one a year and a half of use. I will not trust Big Agnes tent quality again.
Great tent. Easy to put up, lightweight to carry, love the height so we can stand up. It has enough room for two plus your bags...even a dog :)
On our first week-long camping trip with this tent we had two issues that made me concerned about the quality of these tents. First, the top pole cord snapped off while we were setting it up the first time. Although it was frustrating, this wasn't a major issue as the pole could still be assembled and snapped into place, but this never happened with our cheap Coleman tents, let alone on the first use. The second, and much more concerning, issue we had was that the bottom of the tent had water come through it and got all of our gear wet. We even purchased the footprint and had placed that down first. It rained one of the days we were camping, but there wasn't any standing water where we set up our tent. We ended up having to bring a tarp into our tent and lay that down before all of our gear. This was not a fun situation. I reached out to Big Agnes customer support, who asked me to send pictures of the damage needing repaired even though there wasn't any visible damage to the tent itself. They also said the repair would take 6-8 weeks unless I wanted to pay a $75 Rush repair. I had heard so many great things about Big Agnes and I figured the price I was paying would get me something that would last a long time, but I'm not so sure about that anymore. I plan on returning this tent.
Best tent I've ever owned (and I've owned a few). Easy to set up, roomy, zippers work just fine. Hoping this is the last tent I ever purchase.
We’ve used this tent 2 times. The first time, it was great! Love the vertical height & spaciousness. Perfect for 2 adults, 2 kids, and medium dog. The second time we used it, there were 40mph gusts of wind. The tent pole immediately bent. There was a 1lb (maybe) hardcover book on the floor of the tent that ended up ripping a huge hole in the floor. Needless to say, I’m super disappointed! I always buy Big Agnes gear, but I think the quality has gone down immensely, or maybe it’s just this particular tent?? I would not buy this tent.
