EXPLORER 14

I bought my Explorer 14 3 years ago to add to my new RV. The RV has an outboard 1/2psi propane quick connect. I fabricated my own 3' quick connect hose from a store bought 3' long, 3/8" female flair hose. I fitted 1 end with a 1/4" male quick connect. A cupla extension hoses later , and I was in business. Have used it boondocking for 3 years. Love it!! Boils water in minutes for dishes. Cooks anything like a home gas stove easily and with good heat control.

Holds up very well under the weather

I’ve had this one for 6 years and it lives outside in the weather—I use it to cook anything that makes smoke or smell. Despite being uncovered and exposed to the elements, it shows very little sign of rust. It’s also easy to take apart and assemble, though it is not the lightest thing. The wind protector does the job up to about 15-20 mph wind; beyond that the flames will get a bit too jumpy. They also have a full width griddle available that fits perfectly on this stove and makes volume cooking a breeze. If I remember this came with a storage/transport bag but it’s flimsy so I never bothered with it.

Great foundation for DIY package

I needed a cooking set up that was simple, easy to clean, and produced enough heat it would cook at high altitudes (8000 to 10000 feet). Started here, added reversible skillet/grill, levelers, folding shelves, and a cover. Everything is tough and heavy duty, yet manageable to carry from truck to campsite. I am now a fan

excellent camping stove

I spent the last ten days camping with my family and this stove was used several times a day for cooking and making coffee. It only blew out once from the wind and I had on the wind screen, but other than that minor issue it worked great. From bacon and eggs to steak on the camp chef grill and several fish fry's, we were well fed and with no problems. I recommend with no reservations, but I would put extenders on the legs to bring it up a few inches. I followed another reviewers advice and it made a difference. Fantastic purchase! I also use this unit at home and highly recommend.

Scout Approved!

I volunteer heavily with both the BSA and the GSA and needed something to be portable and have the ability to cook a decent amount of food. I bought the Explorer 14 2 Burner Stove And the full size griddle for it. It was easy to assemble, Easy to clean, and I was able to cook two breakfasts and a dinner with ease for a troop of hungry Girlscouts this past weekend. It also heats up water for dishes and cocao pretty fast! Looking back I wish I had also purchased the single burner griddle and the leg levelers. Overall a great stove. It is going to go with me on all future camp outs!

Convenient

This is such a nice grill, so easy to set up and pack away. I am going to add wheels to one side to make it easier to move around. I am also getting an 8 ft. gas line so I don't have to move the gas tank from the front of the camper.

Cheap black grill paint

I've been using this for a few years now and I regret that I didn't return it immediately. For the most part, it does a good job at cooking, but my only issue has been the cheap black paint. Apparently the paint is meant to burn off after first use, but even after multiple uses the black paint continues to melt off. My pots and pans are now stained black and anything else that touches it (like your hands or clothing) will be stained black. I even bought the 2-sided griddle, but I can only use the one side, since the other side is covered in black paint. I'm surprised hardly anyone else has mentioned this flaw. At this point, I will either try to sell it or use a power tool to remove the paint, since I'd rather deal with rust.

Keep the heat out of the kitchen!

I bought this so that I can cook or boil food items that either heat up my kitchen or stink up the house. Example, sautМ© green peppers and onions, boil corn on the cob, steam crabs or boil potatoes. I have also used a cast iron Dutch oven to roast a chicken with beautiful results. I have a gas grill that I use all the time but this camp stove gives more versatility. It can easily hold 2 large pots or pressure cookers- Can't wait to canning season to start! I have the stove on my concrete patio, which is slightly tilted to keep the water draining away from the house. Having the adjustable legs allowed me to level the stove perfectly. I am very pleased with my purchase. Now that I have it I have added the BBQ box on my wish list. :)

Excellent for camping

I bought this unit 2 years ago for camping. Cooking in the travel trailer isn't nearly as fun as cooking outside. My previous trailer had an outside barbecue and I wanted to expand what I could cook outside. Is difficult to get level, however I bought the adjustable screw down legs and that problem was solved. I have a family of 5 and often camp with extended family. So being able to quickly cook a ton of food is a must. The burners are very powerful and quickly boil large pots of water. Almost too fast, the first time I used it, I wasn't sure what to expect and almost boiled off the water before the pasta was done cooking. I have the griddle and the barbecue accessories and cook exclusively on this when camping. The travel trailer stove has never been used.

MY FILIPINA CHEF LIKES IT

I got this for my Filipina wife to cook her “NASTY FISH” outside. Normally when she cooked it inside on the stove it stunk up the house for a day. Ask any American married to a Filipina about them cooking smelly stuff. This works OK on one burner but iffy with two. Overall, I am happy with it in that it got the “NASTY FISH” out of the home. My Filipina is also a chef so she much prefers the heating control of gas cooking as compared to the electric stove. The best thing is that she seems to like it.
