Nice in theory, burner not hot enough
Bought this to replace a single burner coleman bottle-top burner and single use canisters. First use, takes a minute to get the gas to flow. Didn't get hot enough to sear steak in a 22cm cast iron pan.
NOPE
Don’t buy this at any price- the hose that comes in the box literally does not attach to the heater. Looks cool, seems like a good deal, you can’t even assemble it out of the box, let alone use it. Save the return label.
Comes with incompatible connection hose and leaks
I had great hopes for this stove. I got it for emergency backup. Apparently the manufacturer changed the connection on the stove, but not the hose that connects to it. The connection on the stove does not match the instructions. The supplied hose will not connect to the threaded connector on the stove. The female threads on the hose end fitting are just barely deep enough to engage with the threads on the stove connector, and, alas, the threads are incompatible. It is impossible to put a wrench on the stove connection to back it to prevent it from being torqued, as shown in the instructions. This is actually a good thing, because if one were able to use tools to force it on it would be cross-threaded and would leak, certainly a dangerous situation. I did not feel like removing the factory installed stove connector, and replacing it with one compatible with the hose fitting, so I returned it to my local REI store. It’s not as simple as just replacing the hose, because the hose is a custom hose with a regulator on the other end which controls the pressure of the supplied propane. Another consideration is that the manufacturer may have had a good reason for replacing the stove connector. If so, they should have also changed the hose fitting to make it compatible. Perhaps the only reason for replacing the stove connector may have been a supply issue. If so, their solution is unsatisfactory and unsafe. I gave this 1 star even though the stove itself seems robust and durable, because I was unable to test it. The REI return was simple. I explained the problem and advised them to not resell it. These stove should be returned to the manufacturer so that they can correct the problem.
Believe the poor reviews... I didn't
An evil joke... the hose does not connect to a Ignik propane canister! I assumed the disconnection issues mentioned by reviewers was operator error... It's NOT!
