Rated 5 out of 5 by from Conquered New Zealand Like A Beast! My boyfriend bought me this bag in the dark pink color and I absolutely LOVE it! It is the perfect size for day hikes. I recently took a trip to New Zealand and I used this bag as my carry on. It survived being over-stuffed with all my stuff through 30 hours of traveling and being thrown around and it still looks brand new! I hiked with it in New Zealand on shorter day hikes and it did great. The waist strap is comfortable. It was nice to be able to switch between having the weight on your shoulders and the weight on your hips. I haven't hiked in the rain with this bag but I don't think it is meant to be water proof. The pocket in the front as well as the water bottle pockets are made of very stretchy material which came in handy for me to stuff shoes and coats into them and they were safe and secure. I also take this when I go to the park to hammock for a couple hours and my sleeping bag fits perfectly inside for those cold/windy days. It has plenty of loops and places to hook a carabiner or other gear. I used a carabiner to hook my water bottle onto incase it slipped out while I was hiking. That was never an issue. There is also a little strap on the front left shoulder strap that you can cinch your trekking poles onto. I found that handy in New Zealand so I didn't set them down somewhere and lose them, they could be attached to my bag and easy to grab when needed. Overall, this bag seems very durable. I have owned it for a year and a half and I don't have any complaints. The color is amazing too. Even our tour guide in New Zealand said that Osprey makes "sick bags"! I would totally agree with that! It is worth the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The right product for our specific day hiking I purchased this back pack along with one for my spouse after visiting our local REI store in Oxnard, CA. A knowledgeable staff member assisted us with trying on various packs and advised as to the correct size for each of us. It was this particular pack that suited our hiking/camping needs. I found the balance of the pack on my back while hiking in Yosemite (Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls) to be quite comfortable. We added the camel back water system as well. I ended up ordering our back packs on line due because the local store didn't have the color I wanted plus I found a similar Osprey back pack for my husband in the Garage at an attractive discount. There were minor feature differences so I was pleased with the savings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All over Quintana Roo for 6 days! I bought this backpack hoping it could last me throughout my trip all over Quintana Roo, Mexico, and boy was I glad I made the right choice! It went everywhere with me, and I mean Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and the ruins, Chichen Itza, climbed the pyramid in Coba, tossed around during activities in the jungle, picking up and setting the backpack down at numerous of parks. It got sand inside and out, my water shoes fit perfect on the outside pocket where it allowed them to drain through the small slit at the bottom of the front pocket. It went through a LOT of sweat with the heat and still kept me cool. I don't think I could have done a better job finding another backpack. I lugged a lot with me as well, maps, water bottles, another set of clothes, Aid-Kit supplies, snacks, bug spray. You name it, I had it! The straps with pockets on the sides helped a lot during climbs as well. Although I was carrying a lot of stuff, the straps and the back support helped lift the load from my back. All in all, I would highly recommend the backpack. Will be my to go backpack from now on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and Comfortable I was looking for a lightweight backpack that I could use to not only hike, but also to carry my laptop in to work or travel. It is very multifunctional. It is extremely comfortable to wear; lots of padding, a place to carry a water bladder, and if you are not using a water bladder, it can be used as another pocket. It has a few small pockets on the side straps, but just one large pocket. It does have a place to carry a helmet on the face of the backpack. Love the color (Cranberry). I got it on sale, but it retails for $99.00, but not sure I would pay that much for it. I can't tell you how long it will last, since I have only had it a few weeks. Time will tell. That is one reason I am not sure if it's worth full retail. I have owned a North Face heavier backpack for probably 15 years and it has held up well, but it was too bulky and heavy for what I needed. Overall I highly recommend!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Glorified book bag type pack This pack packs really poorly and feels very heavy on the back despite minimal gear in the pack. I had about 3 lbs of gear in the pack and the pack felt heavier on my back than my much larger Gregory (38l) with the same gear.

Is this Pack water resistant or water proof?  If not which would you recommend for a fishing trip in Alaska?

Asked by: MichelleS
This pack is water resistant and not waterproof. A pack rain cover is recommended to keep your pack dry in the rain. https://www.rei.com/c/pack-rain-covers
