Weightless, effortless!

I've used this pack for hiking and biking, and the new anti-gravity suspension system makes it so I can barely feel it on my back! It's not perfect, however, so let's start with the features I feel could use some work: 1) The sizing. Both REI and Osprey's own website and user manual states that the S/M women's pack fits a waist/hips up to 53". Now, although I am a solid-sized woman (size 12) my waist size of 31" is not even close to the 53" maximum stated in the description. However, when I pull the belt tight I don't see how the extra belt on either side could possibly total 53". Maybe there is another adjustment that I'm not aware of; feel free to correct me in future reviews if needed! 2) The zippers on the hip belt pockets are at sort of a goofy angle so that they are difficult to open when the pack is on. I don't have this issue at all with my full-sized Osprey backpack. I alleviated this problem somewhat by lubricating the zipper but the fact remains that the mechanics will need adjusting in futures versions of this pack. Now for the things I love the most about this pack: 1) As stated at the beginning of this review, the suspension system on this thing is marvelous. It's sort of like a combination of the traditional firm mesh of a really nice support system, except almost elasticised. It both firmly supports AND clings to your body, so that the load stays centered with each movement. I use this on my bike for in-town errand rides and barely feel it pulling. It also has a cool helmet connector. 2) The hip belt pockets on both sides of the waist are large enough for my iPhone 6 in an Otter Case (someone wrote in the Q&A section here that the largest it would fit is a 5S so I just wanted to clarify that they do indeed fit a 6!) and although I've had some positional issues with the zipper I do love having the pockets there. 3) The hydration system in this pack is awesome! I've had issues with Osprey reservoirs in the past so I was at first very skeptical, but I've had no problems thus far. The pack comes with the Hydraulics Lte 2.5 reservoir, which differs from the "regular" version in that it does not have a hard shell back. I love the fact that this reservoir is completely integrated into the pack; you just I flip the hose and remove only the bag part, so that if you're refilling at a stream you don't inadvertently dangle your hose on the dirty ground. The bite valve is a weak point, but that's probably an issue with a brands so I'm not too worried about it. 4) The integrated rain cover is a nice feature and adds to the value. My full-sized pack did not come with one and it was another $40 to purchase one, so it's nice that the Mira AG 34 comes with one in its one comparment and is easy to deploy. I haven't had to use it yet so I cannot comment on the waterproof factor. Overall although this is a pretty pricey pack, it's worth it to me for the suspension system and the peace of mind that if any part of it gets torn or damaged Osprey will fix or replace it.

So much squeaking!!!

Although this pack fits well and has some nice features, I really wish I had not purchased this pack because it is SO LOUD. I read a review about the squeaking before purchasing this pack but I hoped it was an anomaly because otherwise the pack seemed perfect. The top of the frame squeaks horribly and right in my ear. When I am out hiking, enjoying my beautiful and peaceful trails, I really do not want to hear that constant squeaking! I have tried a number of things to try to reduce the sound but nothing has worked. It makes me sad because for the most part, I like the rest of the pack. Another negative, the hip belt pockets are fairly useless because although I can unzip them with the pack on, I cannot zip them back up because they are situated too far back.

Best Day / Overnight / Travel / Climbing / Everything Pack!

If you love adventure, you NEED this pack! I have summitted mountains, camped in the backcountry, backpacked the West Coast, skied the Rockies, biked 25+ miles, and hiked hundreds of miles in Big Red (my pack). It is easy to fit as much or as little gear as your adventure requires in it.

Uncomfortable

I wanted to love this backpack, but is extremely uncomfortable. The waist strap contains hard plastic and is not flexible. It digs into the hips. It is almost as if the pack is too small in places and too big in others. The waist strap digs into my hips and the frame doesn't sit snug against the body, so when you add weight it puts pressure on the collar bone. I noticed the squeaking of the frame that others have mentioned, but the waist strap is more of a concern. I got a s/m and I am 5'1", 105 lbs. I recommend to anyone considering this pack to try it on in the store first. I didn't heed the advice of other reviewers and now I will have to send it back.

Great Update But Incredibly NOISY

This is a great update from its Mira AG predecessor. The hip strap is solid and sturdy, rendering excessive strap adjustment unnecessary. There is also a lot more room inside the pockets, and the new hydration packs are not rigid like the old ones, facilitating the packing process. My one and only complaint is the noise: the pack squeaks LOUDLY as soon as I begin to walk. I have asked Osprey for tips/help but I have not received any response. I would really appreciate any help on this issue (short of "apply WD1040"). Otherwise, great pack!

Great large daypack

I have smaller daypacks by both Deuter and Gregory, but when I'm hiking with both kids, I needed something larger. Enter the Osprey Mira 34. Between its two water bottle holders and reservoir I can carry water for all 3 of us. It has multiple pockets for organization- your first aid kit and wipes (or whatever you want to grab) are easy to store in a convenient location. The comfort of this pack is phenomenal. I have taken to using it even when my smaller daypacks would do the trick. I haven't had any problems with noise, I imagine if so that would negatively affect my rating. I am 100% happy with this pack!

So comfy, so convenient!

I was shopping around for a hydration pack and a backpacking pack at the same time, and the search led me to Osprey AG packs. Boy have I not been disappointed! Let's start with the most important thing about this pack: the Anti-Gravity suspension. This pack literally feels like a hug. It's a big day pack with a 2.5 liter reservoir, so the first thing I did was fill the bladder and then load a bunch of stuff into the pack and go for a 3mile hike. It never once felt like I was lugging around any load at all (not that I was carrying much to begin with, but still). The next thing is that the pockets are great. The bladder has its own sleeve that makes it easy to take in and out. The main pocket is spacious. The front pocket has a couple sleeves to put things in. The hipbelt pockets are big enough to fit my iPhone 6s with a lifeproof case. My favorite pocket is the open one between the main compartment and the front pocket. It's great for stuffing your jacket into. The water bottle pockets on the sides are very deep and have a neat double-entry (either from the top like other packs, or from the side which makes it easy to grab while on the go). One of my new favorite features that I got to utilize recently was the Stow-on-the-go trekking pole loops that attach on your left shoulder strap down to the side of the pack. This feature is SUPER handy for when you need to put your poles up so that you can scramble up a rocky slope or for when you just don't need to use them in that moment. I really have no complaints about this pack, but I'm fairly easy to please. Overall it's a great pack that I'm incredibly happy with.

Excellent mid size pack

My old 20 liter osprey was more than 10 years old and just had seen better days so I decided to finally spring for a new one. So far the new one has been great, 34 liters just swallows up my camera gear, extra clothes and everything else. I would never go back to a smaller pack for day hikes, you just carry enough for a true emergency as I've found out over the years. This pack is as comfortable as the old one with a few nice new details like a pocket specifically forr the rainfly. Expect it'll last me another 10 plus years.

AMAZING pack!

I bought this pack to use on a trip to Hawaii. More specifically, to carry my heavy camera gear and tripod, when on the trail. This pack was amazing! It distributes the weight so well that I never felt like I had 20+lbs on my back! (No sore shoulders, back or neck issues- amazing!) Plus it can be very low profile if you don't have much to put in it, but then expands to fit when you are carrying a larger load, with many stash pockets to boot. (And it looks more like a backpack vs. a tall formal backpacking pack, which I liked.). The hip belt was comfortable and my back never got sweaty either, even when using it in hot and humid conditions. Also, the built-in rain cover was a life saver!

Great daypack

I hesitated buying this due to the price but now I am so glad that I did buy it! Tons of storage for a daypack. The pack distributes the weight so well that I don't even feel that I am carrying between 12-15 pounds when I go on longer hikes. I highly recommend this pack!
