Rated 4 out of 5 by from So comfortable! First things first: I have always hated wearing tennis shoes. I used to find shoes confining and uncomfortable. Until now. I am so happy that I found Ahnu shoes! They are lightweight and very comfortable, with little to no break in time. With the addition of Superfeet Green insoles, I used these for 20+ miles of hiking in Yosemite, as well as hiking locally, and daily wear. I would without a doubt by these again. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because the colored area of the back tread is pealing off a little and there is more ware in the back heal than I expected after <100 miles moderate use. Neither has an effect on use or comfort, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMGosh ... I love my Ahnus! I'm really between an avid adventurer and a casual/recreationalist because I do more than most in my 'shape' and at my age (56). I bought these for all the trail hikes I do in the state & national parks but am wearing them as my 'go to' tennis because they're so stinking comfy. And, these shoes are comfortable right out of the box. I would recommend going into a brick and mortar store to try on as everyone has a different opinion about fit (too wide, runs small/large). I'm 'sold' on Ahnu ... I have 2 other pair: my hiking boots (Montana but have the Sugarpine boots on my list) and a pair of casual shoes. My collection will be growing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super comfy These shoes are better than I'd hoped. First of all, super comfortable right out of the box. I bought them for desert hiking, but then I visited my folks in Maine in January and wore them in snow. My feet stayed warm and cozy. Although not billed as waterproof, they kept my feet dry as well. At one point I was taking a long time framing a photo, and my feet started to feel a bit cold. I looked down and realized I had been standing in a half frozen puddle of water that was a few inches deep. Despite being submerged, no water came in, just a bit of cold. I thought for sure my feet would be wet, but nope, all was well. Very impressed with the quality, fit, and performance. Highly recommend these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sugarpine mesh hiker I bought this shoe based on all the comments and let me just say they were all true. These shoes I just love, I want to get them in other colors. There is no need to break them in my friends. Just put them on and out the door you go and your ready for your hike or just for doing errands.you won't be disappointed. I own many pairs of ahnu shoes. They fit true to size. Plus, I get so many compliments on them. Most hiking shoes are your typical boring tan color. These shoes come in so many vibrant colors. If you do decide to buy a pair, I'm sure you won't be disappointed and if you are you can always return them. Enjoy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best fit by far. OMG! I feel like I put my feet in easy chairs. With wide feet and low arch I have never had such a comfortable shoe. I do a lot of city walking and am looking forward to bringing these to Spain where I am doing a bike trip with city touring. Friends told me about Ahnu, but now I am sold on the brand.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wearing out after three months! These shoes are as comfortable as everyone says and they look great! Unfortunately they are falling apart after only three months of wear. The inside heel has worn completely through and the lining and padding are coming out. I put about 20 miles a week on trails on them so it's not like my level of activity should have caused them to wear out so quickly. I am so disappointed because I really liked these shoes!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very comfortable, no blisters! These boots are very comfortable. The one drawback I've found is that one of the two boots makes a squeaky, squishy sound with each step. This may be just a quirk, or it may be a design flaw. Listen carefully when you try them on and walk around the store!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun, lightweight shoe After a nice rock climbing fall, I had really messed up my ankle. During the PT process, the therapist instructed me that I needed to get a high quality, lightweight sneaker. Most of my shoes are heavy to deal with rocks, rough terrain, and heavy loads. These were not going to work for my recovery and only aggravate the injury. I tried on what felt like every shoe possible. The minute I put these on, I knew I had a winner. Feel almost like you are wearing a cozy slipper until you get moving. Then the feel like I'm wearing little sports cars. Not only did they really help me get through the more advanced stages of therapy, they've actually made me like trail running now that I'm mostly healed. Even the therapist commented on how good a shoe they were for design. The sole has great traction so it's made sticking my landings easier while I'm working on rebuilding that skill. They feel so light on my feet too I'm not adding the extra stress of extra weight. Also, highly breathable. I don't wear them in any rough terrain and only on streets and packed trails. I don't imagine they would do well with that but for a great running and jumping around shoe, I can't imagine there's a better sneaker. One issue I had was these seem to run a little large and I had to go down a full size from my normal.

I'm looking for something I can wear in most weather conditions---cool and rainy as well as warm. Given the mesh upper, I'm wondering how likely my feet are to get cold and/or wet in rainy or cool weather (not snow---I'd wear boots).

Asked by: hld123
These shoes are designed for warm or hot environments. They are not waterproof. While they certainly can be used in cool weather, how likely you are to feel cold is impossible to tell because there are too many variables.

I've had problems with planter fasciitis and will be hiking in the Grand Canyon this summer, including hiking out on the Bright Angle trail. Would you recommend these Anhu or the Merrill Moab FST. Also, waterproof versions or no?

Asked by: Outdoor enthusiast
The Ahnu Sugarpine low hiking shoes will be an excellent choice for hiking the Grand Canyon; we recommend adding an insole for further arch protection. https://www.rei.com/c/insoles

I am looking for a hiking shoe with a rigid forefoot. I need a shoe with very little flexibility under the ball of the foot. A low ankle shoe. Would this work?

Asked by: buyer
The Ahnu Sugarpine Hiking Shoes are a soft soled hiking shoe. I recommend the Merrell Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes - Women's, these have a very stiff sole.
