Boy howdy!
My husband suggested that I needed a more technical hiking experience. This is one of those times when he was right. The feeling of stability hiking in these boots/shoes makes me feel like a younger person. It is wonderful feeling completely confident on the trail today. I have slipped on ice and in muddy conditions as well as on dirty rocks in the past hiking trails in our mountains. I am no spring chicken but I love hiking. With these hiking boots I feel comfortable and steady on the trails now. I appreciate the excellent craftsmanship and they look great too.

This new model is shoddily made!
Unlike my old Solomon’s, the workmanship on this shoe is terrible. The stitching where the middle, stretch panel meets the side of the shoe, was breaking after 2 uses. I looked inside on the side to find the same thread is used and, as the salesman said, “looks rough”. I looked at the older model if this shoe at the store and it was the old quality, so I traded. Check for yourself before you buy.

Good Water resistant shoes

Happy that I was able to purchase this 3 weeks ago. I used it during my hike in Snowdonia. It was raining, but amaze that my footwear did not get wet. The grip of the sole is fascinating during the hike, it’s not slippery. Also, like any other new shoes, its a must to break in.

Poorly Made-Not Worth the $

Bought these only eight months ago and already the eyelids that hold the laces have failed and to have ripped off completely. Ridiculous!

Hole inside heel lining in less than 6 weeks!

Very comfortable shoe, BUT both my wife and my shoes wore through the material inside the heel of the shoe in less than 6 weeks. We're training for The Camino and have only hiked in these shoes maybe 200 miles since purchase. They are NOT durable. The stitching where the Gortex meets the lining wears through. Not recommended.

Maybe my pair was defective

these hiking shoes are very comfortable and waterproof, but have not stood the test of time. Within 1 month one tie had broken but worse within 5 months, the upper had started to detach from the sole and there were cracks in the leather part of the shoe. I do wear them every day on rough trails, but that's why I bought this brand at this price, so that they would last at least a couple years. Disappointed!

110 km of hiking and NO blisters or sore feet

I purchased these for an upcoming trip to Newfoundland with the plan to hike multiple hills / mountains over a period of 12 days. My husband and two teenagers all purchased other brands of hiking shoes and from all of us, I was the only one who did not get a single blister (or wet feet) hiking over 110 km. My feet were never sore, and from day one the fit was great (no breaking in time). They are 100% waterproof which I tested through mud and water multiple times 😂 . The only downside is that these hiking shoes will be for spring, fall and part winter hiking only as my feet do get hot, so hiking in weather above 16C would be an issue for me in these. But I’ll look for a summer pair from Salomon before looking elsewhere. PS the size does run large, I’m usually a 7.5-8 and went for a size 7 which was perfect.

Sewing deficiencies

Unfortunately, I had quality control issues with both pairs I received. The first pair had visible sewing defects on the tongue of the shoe, which made them concerning for durability. I returned them and ordered a replacement, but the second pair also arrived with sewing deficiencies, this time on the side of the shoe. For hiking shoes, stitching quality is essential, and experiencing the same problem twice suggests a production or quality control issue.

Comfortable and functional low-key trail shoe

I chose these based on reviews citing excellent support and traction. Salomon trail shoes generally are too narrow for my slightly wider feet, but based on some reviews saying that this model has a slightly wider toe box than previous versions, I gave them a try. They worked out great for the purpose I chose them for: my one main shoe for overseas hiking and walking, sometimes all-day rain. They were comfortable to wear all day, and the quick lace feature made them easy to loosen and tighten as needed. Although expensive, they ticked all the boxes. My only wish would be that they were available in black as they do for the men. My husband bought his black Ultra 5s at the same time and likewise was happy having them his only travel shoe.

Comfortable and Supportive for Problem Feet

Up front, my feet are a mess - high arches, narrow, and no cartilage in the joints behind my big toes due to autoimmune disease. I love to hike, but have had a terrible time finding shoes/boots that support and protect my feet and are comfortable to walk in for any period of time. I tested these shoes and the midrise model of the same shoe. I wanted to love the midrise, but got hot spots on the front of my ankle bone that I couldn't break in. These shoes, however, have been perfect. We went on two moderate hikes (steep and slippery in places, but no scrambling) over the weekend, each about 5 miles. The shoes were very comfortable and very stable. My feet never hurt and there were no hot spots or potential blisters at all. I tend to roll my ankle, and the lateral stability was excellent and I didn't experience it. The toe protection is also excellent - stubbing my toes was excruciating in my old boots, but in these, I barely noticed it. I have seen complaints about them being narrow, but for me, they are perfect. The insoles seemed to have decent arch support, but I did replace them with custom hiking insoles for the additional support and cushioning.
