Altra  Lone Peak 9 Waterproof Low Hiking Shoes - Women's

Great shoe for hiking! Love the wide toe. I have a high-volume foot and tying the laces differently makes this shoe far more comfortable than my other hiking shoes. Good amount of cushioning (not a true “barefoot” which I’m happy with). I usually wear an 8 and purchase an 8. Unfortunately like other commenters have said, this shoe does not seem durable long-term. I’ve contacted Altra about their warranty since I purchased these on April 9 and have only about 150 miles on them. Hopefully this is a fluke and their quality improves.

I'm super disappointed in these shoes. The rubber part is actually painted. For what this shoe costs, not to mention it is intended as a trail running shoe, the rubber parts shouldn't be painted. My daughter has worn these less than 10 times as you can see from the very new looking soles. I'm so tired of companies using lower quality products and expecting us to pay more.

I bought these shoes after developing plantar faciitus wear a more minimal shoe and walking too far in them. I needed something that would allow me to keep on hiking without much pain. These shoes have been incredible. I felt they were very expensive but they are worth the price. Very well made, fit my feet well and my feet are healing. I haven't tried hiking in wet weather (I live in the desert) but have hiked on rocky and steep surfaces and so far they grip well. Lots of room for toes to spread. Good cushion on the soles. My feet don't slip around inside. They fit like a glove. I normally wear size 10.5 but the 11's feel perfect. I highly recommend these to anyone with or without painful feet.

I’ve owned two other LonePeaks so I assumed these would be just as comfortable and them being waterproof was a plus. Boy I was wrong. These shoes were so uncomfortable. I wore them on an 11-day trip to Finland and Iceland and I felt miserable the whole time. These shoes didn’t have much cushion. I felt like ai was walking on hard cement all the time. They gave me blisters on my toe. The shoes were also very stiff. They hardly bend or give when walking, not to mention they didn’t let my feet breathe. The only thing positive is that they are indeed waterproof. I wanted to like them because the blue color is really nice. I am very disappointed.

I bought these wide toe box, zero drop shoes after getting plantar fasciitis and having them recommended along with foot strengthening exercises. Love them! Very comfortable and love that they are waterproof.

The rubber on the toe part is painted. This is what my daughter's shoes looked like after wearing them to school about 10 times. You can see from the bottom of the shoes that they are new. These are supposed to be trail runners, scuffs should be expected. Poor quality for the price. Too bad because my daughter loves the fit of the shoes.

Within less than a week of first wearing these, the edges of the shoes around the foot hole were completely shredded. For $160 I would have expected these to last much longer.

The shoes are comfortable for hiking, but they are NOT waterproof, and they are tearing apart at the ankles. I’ve only had them for 6 weeks, hiked daily in them for 3 weeks, and I’m not sure they will last the rest of my hike. If I weren’t hiking the Camino, I’d return them. I can’t recommend them to anyone. They certainly aren’t worth $165, and not the quality I expect from a brand REI sells.

I purchased this shoe specifically for the wide toe. I was looking for a comfortable hiking waterproof shoe that was lighter than my Keens. I initially tried these on in the store upon recommendation from the sales staff. My first impression they were a bit weird, but decided to buy & try them. Well it’s been a year, and I’m impressed how well they have held up. No problem with them being waterproof as some reviews said. Actually they have kept my feet quite dry, but a bit warm. I had some issues with my right foot toes, unrelated to these shoes, and ended up at Urgent Care. After x-rays and evaluation by the podiatrist, it was determined ‘my feet are just getting old and losing fat between my toes’. The recommendation was to find Altra wide toe, 0 drop brand. Image my surprise when I noted the podiatrist wearing them! Although he did mention I should also invest in the non-waterproof too. My only reason for a 4, is because I think the inside padding isn’t as supportive after a year. I went to REI to discuss replacing them, but was advised returning them to exchange is not an option after they checked them over. I was told my issues were normal wear and therefore not eligible. I purchased another pair but after wearing them around my house i decided to exchange the new ones for the non-waterproof style.

Great option for waterproof hikers! These shoes kept my feet totally dry on a very rainy Scotland trip this summer, and they are super comfortable. I hope they hold up - my other Altras tend to break down after a month or two of use (fraying edges, rubber toe piece peeling off, etc.).
