I'm super disappointed in these shoes. The rubber part is actually painted. For what this shoe costs, not to mention it is intended as a trail running shoe, the rubber parts shouldn't be painted. My daughter has worn these less than 10 times as you can see from the very new looking soles. I'm so tired of companies using lower quality products and expecting us to pay more.
I bought these shoes after developing plantar faciitus wear a more minimal shoe and walking too far in them. I needed something that would allow me to keep on hiking without much pain. These shoes have been incredible. I felt they were very expensive but they are worth the price. Very well made, fit my feet well and my feet are healing. I haven't tried hiking in wet weather (I live in the desert) but have hiked on rocky and steep surfaces and so far they grip well. Lots of room for toes to spread. Good cushion on the soles. My feet don't slip around inside. They fit like a glove. I normally wear size 10.5 but the 11's feel perfect. I highly recommend these to anyone with or without painful feet.
The rubber on the toe part is painted. This is what my daughter's shoes looked like after wearing them to school about 10 times. You can see from the bottom of the shoes that they are new. These are supposed to be trail runners, scuffs should be expected. Poor quality for the price. Too bad because my daughter loves the fit of the shoes.
Within less than a week of first wearing these, the edges of the shoes around the foot hole were completely shredded. For $160 I would have expected these to last much longer.
I bought these wide toe box, zero drop shoes after getting plantar fasciitis and having them recommended along with foot strengthening exercises. Love them! Very comfortable and love that they are waterproof.
Great option for waterproof hikers! These shoes kept my feet totally dry on a very rainy Scotland trip this summer, and they are super comfortable. I hope they hold up - my other Altras tend to break down after a month or two of use (fraying edges, rubber toe piece peeling off, etc.).
I have three other pairs of Lone peaks that I wear a 9.5 in and I got same size in these and ended up getting hot spots between my toes. Especially going up hill they felt way too big as my foot was shift far back and then far forward on the down hill. I read that the waterproof ones do run slightly larger due to the different material. Interesting that another reviewer said they run small. Definitely not in my case. Gonna return them for the half size smaller.
I just spent a week hiking in northern Arizona. I wore the shoes a couple of times before I left home to ensure they fit properly, and they did. I am notorious for having problems finding hiking shoes that fit well. These worked incredibly. Not only did they fit, have a wonderful wide toe bed, but they were also light.
I bought these shoes for a trip to Europe. Within the first 2 weeks, the upper materials started to fray. The shoe is comfortable, held up in the rain, but I was hoping for better quality for the price.
Lovely shoes. I will buy them elsewhere in the future, since coop member votes no longer matter.
