My wife and I purchased a 4 person Marmot Halo about a half-dozen years ago. Shortly thereafter, our dog, in a panic, shredded a bunch of panels. I contacted Marmot about having it repaired. They said to ship it out, and they would tell us if it was possible and how much it would cost. They ended up repairing at no extra charge, all I paid was shipping. On top of this already being a quality tent, unless you knew exactly where to look, the repair is unnoticeable. They earned a customer for life that day. Now, we have a child, and a larger dog, which means more gear goes camping with us. We also aren't getting any younger, so it's nice to have a tent you can stand up in. So, we just upgraded to a Limestone 8 (the Halo is still in perfect working order, and doesn't leak). Just as with the Halo, all the materials are top notch, the ergonomics are well thought out, and the fit and finish is top shelf. I have zero regrets buying this, and no problem recommending it to others. Quality product from a quality company.
We knew about the awning poles but this tent also doesn’t come with enough stakes to set it up correctly. So, after spending 700$ be prepared to spend more in order to fully set this tent up. It’s about 5 stakes short of what you need to set up all the corners and guy lines. Also, the label in the bag says the awning poles are included so that’s super annoying that they decided not to include them. For the amount of money this tent is you should not have to get anything after buying it. We also contacted marmot about this and they said that’s just how it is. This could be a great tent if it came with everything you need to use it.
We just received our new Limestone 8p. It was a rainy day when it arrived so we decided to move all the furniture and throw it up in the living room. It went up super easy and our family of 7 had a blast testing out the spacious enterior. A really good looking tent. We can’t wait to go camping! The only drawback: the matching footprint is not available and we cannot find one anywhere. Not looking forward to using a generic tarp to protect the bottom of our new tent. :(
We are a family of 5 with three people 6' or taller - so everything we have is a bit longer or larger than most people's gear. This felt like a home away from home. Up to this point we had been using hand-me-down 4 person and 3-person tents on a single site. This tent is HUGE. Plenty of space for gear, air mattresses, lots of pockets to stash your small items - and still room to spare. The (6'+) tall people can stand up in the main compartment. . Fairly straightforward to set up (took two people about 15min or so). It didn't rain so I have no idea how it will work in the elements but it was perfect for our late-summer camping trip. Well worth the price for comfortable car camping!
Used this tent once for a family of 5 and it proved to be a really good. The poles were color-coded for easy setup so it comes up relatively quickly. The rainfly covers the tent almost totally but still allows ample breeze to run through. I believe the manufacturer's claim that this tent will survive strong wind gust and heavy rain judging from the slope of the sides. The side offers privacy for changing clothes while the front has more mesh for good ventilation. Take away the rainfly at night and you can stargaze through it. We really liked the awning and the outside floor mat. The kids can step into the tent without tripping over the tub. The quality of the materials used is beyond reproach, the stakes were octagonal cross-wise so they're probably very strong. The two big poles are all-aluminum that when interconnected, the seams are shut, unlike some tent poles made of fiberglass and aluminum joints. This tent single-handedly got my wife hooked to camping. There is no other tent that we'll consider after using this. Truly excellent.
I bought this at REI based on the recommendation from the sales rep that it "was the best 8-person tent in the store." I used it during a one-night stay at Fashoda Park in El Dorado with five of my friends. We were surprised at how spacious it was, easily accommodating my 6-foot guest when he was standing. As far as putting the tent together, it was slightly confusing. The instructions were hard to locate as it was sewn into the carrying bag, and the directions referred to several parts without any providing context, visually or otherwise. Many parts of the tent were color coded, which served as a helpful indicator of what went where, which allowed our group to assemble the whole thing within 15 minutes. Albeit pricey, the Marmot Limestone did its job: it kept us cool, kept insects out, and provided a great opportunity for star-gazing.
I am a gear snob. Just am. I do a lot of research before each and every purchase. Two words describe this tent on every feature and aspect: The Best. No wait, 3 words: The Best Ever. I have used this tent several times since the initial purchase, and each time it has provided me a wow moment, I was not expecting, little things, and impressive big time performance in heavy rain and high winds. If you need a large tent, this bad boy is what you seek, it's full of wonderful and extremely well thought out and very smartly designed use of space. If I ever wear this one out from use, I would by another one. It is of that quality of product.
We wanted a tent the was big enough to stand up in, and to fit an air mattress as well as the kids' bedrolls, and this one definitely fit the bill. We could easily have fit two queen sized air mattresses inside! Unfortunately, it is so big that we are worried that it won't fit in the tent space at many forested campsites. We are returning it and getting a 6 person tent instead. If you are looking for a sturdy and easy to put up tent that is big enough for the entire scout troop, or your entire family and a pack of pups, get this one. If you often camp in places with small sites or lots of trees and rocks, you'll want a smaller tent!
We have taken our Limestone 8P out at least 5 times now and I love it more and more. The room divider is a huge plus with little kids as we have convinced them they have their own secret hideout to sleep in and will fit 2-3 kids easily with their gear. That leaves a super (like really) spacious room for my husband and I with plenty of headroom and gear pockets galore(6-8 that I can think of off the top of my head). I can put it up on my own including the fly by clipping two corners and throwing the rest of the fly over the top. The full coverage fly has kept us totally dry while still having good ventilation. It is now the only tent we take family camping!
We have a child now and wanted a bigger tent with plenty of room. We started with a 6 person one, but realized on the first trip we wanted one even bigger. Well this is a big tent. It fits a pack N play, a chair to rock the baby in, a queen size air bed and you still have room to stand up in the middle and move around. Which when you baby is crying in the middle of the night is great. We have encountered rain in all the trips we have used it. Sometimes hours of heavy rain. This tent kept everything completely dry. The vestibule is nice so you can leave your shoes outside even in the rain. The materials are high quality, and the tent is very easy to set up. Taking down, is a bit tricky, only because there is lots of fabric to a big tent. But, it all fits nicely in the bag once it is down. As our child grows a little older, I'm sure she will like her own little room that the divider creates. It is heavy, but this is a car camping tent, so big deal. You do kind of need to be careful about picking your campsites because it is so big. We are very happy with this tent. If you are not going to move up to a popup camper, or teardrop, this is the best way to camp with a family.
