It’s was a ok tent. But the fall back the porches screen floods no matter what. The drainage is horrible. You will get soaked. The tent leaked on the inside brand new never used. It was raining and it was leaking towards the bottom at the corners on the seams. So the inside of the tent floor was wet also. Then the side walls all leaked. The center of the tent is perfect yes to stand up but if you have a air up mattress you literally have to stay hunched over to walk around. The dark technology is a joke. It was a little darker than other tents yes but not completely dark. You could see daylight through the zippers lol and out rain fly had pin holes in it all over the place. For the price I’d pay for one of the lodge ones again or one of the square ones first. It had sweat or condensation all around the bottom of it every morning. Idk wasn’t pleased out all. Maybe a twin mattress or no mattress would be better for this tent.
I work in the outdoors industry and use a wide range of brands and levels of quality. I am meticulous about using, maintaining, and storing gear properly, and a lot of my personal gear lasts years with high use. My main personal tent from a mid-high level brand is a decade old and performs like it's new. I bought the Carlsbad tent not to use professionally or in wilderness or adverse or rough weather conditions. I bought it for a car camping, established campground, fair weather FAMILY camping. After two nights, in the aforementioned setting, it has proven to be garbage. The seams are all loose and perforated the whole length. Why? It was not used in any wind whatsoever. It was not tensioned incorrectly or stretched in any way. There are lines etched in the nylon from where it was simply folded when it was stored, and holes are visible all along these seams. Why? It was swept and shaken to remove any sand or dirt or whatever before I folded/rolled it up for storage. Is it supposed to be stored fully assembled because the fabric can not handle being folded? The last night we used it, there was no rain- just light drizzle, barely more than a heavy fog. Nothing was touching the walls of the tent, yet the nylon completely wetted out and dripped in to the interior. I've had way cheaper tents that never did that, even in ACTUAL rain. This is a Coleman family tent, for kids and a dog, it isn't some high performance item that should need to be babied and fussed over. I dont buy Coleman products to treat with kid gloves, and I dont know anybody who does. I don't know what to do with a tent that cant handle light morning mist. Giving it away will just ruin someone else's camping trip, but what an environmental crime for all this crap to go straight to a landfill after a single use.
I think it’s the wrong tent but it’s a tent just the same. It was my honeymoon suite in mount chase, Maine. I love camping I had the best low key wedding in Aug2024. The tent is very spacious without being crowded. I had two twin size cots/mattresses, pack & play, and queen size air bed in this tent. The kids had plenty room to play during the rainy weather. We had a 2nd tent for my two daughters and mom that I think was the one this review should be for. Both performed as designed and we spent two weeks comfortably camping in the north Maine woods without any issues.
Slept in this tent for 21 days during a work trip. One pole sleeve ripped during setup. Rain fly doesn’t cover the screened porch, so that space is unusable as storage. Came back after each rainstorm to find a pool of water on the floor of the porch because it doesn’t drain well. Getting in and out of the porch enclosure is difficult as well because there’s not a stake at the point where the three zippers meet to hold the floor down, which would create the tension needed to easily open the zippers. The dark room technology was just OK. Pretty disappointing because I’m a fan of Coleman tents. Wish I could return this one and go with a different model.
I’m so obsessed with this tent, it’s been my favorite tent so far our family has purchased. I LOVE the sun room in this tent! It’s so nice to keep a little chair in the front room to sit on and take your shoes off. This helps incredibly with keeping dirt out of the main sleeping area! The hubby and I took this for a spin in Texas this last summer, it was hot but so much fun! We will definitely be taking this out again once it cools down here in the South. Very high quality tent and really user friendly. Easy to set up as well, I highly recommend this.
Seriously, this has been the best tent I’ve owned. It has withstood several years of camping trips without any rips or tears or leaks! It is very spacious and even has a front porch type area to the tent for you to remove shoes or sit in and have coffee in the morning without bugs bothering you. I love the little pockets it has inside for my phone and keys when I’m sleeping. It also has a loop at the top of the tent to hold a hanging light, which is a phenomenal feature. I will purchase this tent again if my current ever has an issue!
We bought this sent so that we could have plenty of room for us and our two dogs. After adding a queen sized air mattress and two dog beds, there was still plenty of room to move around. There are two storage bags on the inside to store small things that have four pockets each, and there is a place on the top of the tent for a lantern to hang. When the windows are zipped up, it is actually dark on the inside. It's like having blackout curtains inside the tent. Set up is easy, but it will take two people to set it up. You can set it up with one person, but it is much easier with two people. The dogs love the "patio" part of the tent. They like laying out there when we are inside the tent because they can still see outside. The tent was also easy to take down and put it bag into the bag. Overall, it is a great tent for camping.
Bought this and it leaked like a siv. My son and I went camping and that night it sprinkled and he got to little puddles, very small but enough to soak his socks when he wiped it up. I just assumed he or his son spilled some water in it. The next day it rained lightly and the water started in at the seams only after about 30 minutes of rain, so at first break, we broke camp and ended out trip due to more storms on the way. I am hoping we can weatherproof this tent somehow even though we did use a can of the spray before any water touched the surface.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I took this tent on a camping trip and the dark technology was perfect for sleeping in. Our other tent from another manufacturer had me up at 7am but now I can sleep until about 10am. We love the screen room as a barrier to bugs getting into main room and to sit and relax without bothersome little pest. Also on the screenroom floor is a mesh panel to help drain any water out. This was helpful once I took tent home to clean it out. During the mid-day hours our tent stayed much cooler than our pals. We were able to relax on our Coleman cots and take a nap with the windows unzipped for a breeze. Our pals weren't as comfortable in a standard tent with dark technology. Overall I wish I hadn't wasted money on previous tent and had gotten this tent first. Comfortably fit two twin cots, gear, and two small folding chairs. Wouldn't get any other tent if there's not dark technology on it.
This was for a festival getaway. And right out of the bag the poles were broken... if it was usable my weekend would have been different. Something about buying something broken and being stuck in a situation has a way with messing with your weekend. Couldn't tell you if it blocked light or not... cause I couldn't set it up.
