Personal item sized for strict airlines
I've been doing more long weekend trips and like to book the budget airlines for those. I wanted a nice bag with all the bells and whistles but still complied with the Personal Item restrictions. This one is perfect, packs like my regular travel bag, open clamshell. Each side acts like a big packing cube so those become optional for me (I still usually do 1-2 small ones in one side). I still never know what people do with all the flat pockets, what do you possibly fit in there?? The only addition that would have been nice is an option for converting to a backpack, but carrying it like a duffel isn't terrible. The shoulder strap is so cushioned it makes it comfy.
Personal item size for Spirit Airlines
I got this bag because it was on sale (in light grey) and I wanted an under seat bag asap. Plusses--it maximized what I could bring onto a Spirit flight without paying a carry on bag fee. It's a large personal item. (It does not convert to a backpack. Based on some of the questions, there might have been a previous model that did.) The fabric is sturdy. The bag has a clamshell design that made it easy to pack and access things. Here are the things I would have liked to have seen that may have been unrealistic at this price point. 1. Zippers that were sturdier and had overlapping luggage lock thread throughs to more easily secure the bag. 2. Sturdier shoulder strap hardware. (It's plastic.) What is on there was find for my trip. Time will tell if it is sturdy enough. 3. I wish the organization pocket area unzipped farther so it was easier to access the contents of the pocket--especially when the rest of the bag is pretty full. All that being said, I did pick up this bag when the color I purchased it in was on sale and I was able to use a members sale benefit on top of that. I needed it in a hurry and got it on time. For the amount I paid, the bag is easy to use and probably paid for itself on my first round trip where I didn't have to pay for a carryon bag on Spirit airlines. Always pay attention to what your carrier allows as a personal item. It is a practical bag at a reasonable price point--especially on sale. I am happy with my purchase. The bag also has a well padded laptop sleeve that is easy to access.
Amazing duffel bag!
I’m a flight attendant for a major carrier, and bought the Bowen bag to use on trips. It’s AMAZING. The amount that I can pack in is perfect, the two compartments are easily accessed with the clamshell style opening. Loads of extra pockets and storage. Such a winner!!
Not confortable to carry
I bought the product during a business trip to NYC. Unfortunately, the bag is not as confortable as it was told. Now, living abroad, I won’t be able to exchange, therefore, I have a expansive product that won’t be uses.
Fabric is too thick, heavy
I like the structure and design of this carry on bag, but dislike the fabric weight and density. I would like a somewhat lighter weight fabric on this, as it makes the empty bag heavier than it should be.
Best Bag Ever!
I absolutely love this bag. It is exactly what I was hoping for. It holds so much and when packed full is still within the limitations of a personal item for flying.
Nice Bag
The Bowen duffle is a nice bag with decent storage. In my opinion, the bag could be slight bigger to accommodate a few extra clothes and accessories.
Work bag
Perfect for everyday work bag. Haven't traveled with it yet, but it looks and feels great for it!

Almost perfect carry on bag! Only thing missing is a water bottle holder.
