In my opinion, this is the best EDC backpack for the average person. The 32l size is just right to carry lunch, some EDC items, spare clothing, and whatever else for a day or two. Or you can be efficient and use it for an extended weekend trip. The flexibility is what makes this bag so great. Having one large opening, with a divider, is a major perk. Personally, I like backpacks that don't have a lot of pockets and random openings. The material feels nice and rugged and the overall quality seems perfect. The only drawback I can think of, which others have mentioned, is the backpack strap getting in the way of the duffel bag opening - honestly it's not that bad and you can just unbuckle one of the straps; I don't ever have to do that. I got the "older" version on clearance from REI, but I couldn't tell the difference. Very happy with the purchase. The colors are awesome too.
This has by far, been my favorite duffle to use. I work as a wildland firefighter and constantly on the go during season. I needed a replacement for my previous BC Voyager which I got 4 solid seasons out of. I saw the brown version, and decided I needed to have it! - It packs nicely within my Mystery Ranch Flight Monster and holds everything I need for a spike out or a hotel stay when I don’t want to lug around 100L monster. - The internal separator isn’t perfect but with a full bag, it stays in place (it doesn’t work the best when there is open room in the bag). - The shoe compartment is very useful, but doubles as a dirty laundry compartment when needed. - I regularly keep a 30L Yeti Rambler inside the bottle compartment and use the drawstring as an anchor (pretty sure that’s what it’s for) and have never lost it. - the laptop pocket is clutch for my 14” Razer Blade, but can dig into my back if worn for extended periods; that’s not what this bag is for, so it’s not a problem for me. Buy it, it’s worth it.
After purchasing two other duffels that I didn’t love I began my search yet again. I’ve never liked North Face products but the overwhelming positive reviews made me jump to try this one. To say I was disappointed is an understatement, it looks cheap and feels cheaper. If you’re going for the trash bag look with a paper bad sound save your money and just use a couple of grocery bags.
I bought this to use as a gym bag, but it would work well for a variety of uses. I wear this bag as a backpack and the way it is designed the lip of the zipper compartment can sit on my back a little funny sometimes, but it is easy to straighten the lip out with my hand while I am wearing the backpack. Even with this issue, I LOVE this bag and am so happy I purchased it.
Great bag but I don't recommend for shorter persons. I'm 5'2" and the bag is a little too long for me. Plus one of the backpack straps gets in the way when opening the top flap and I need to detach each time but it's not a deal breaker, just annoying. A trolly/luggage sleeve would have been great but the length of the bag (22") might have made it prohibative.
Thoughtful design features help make this travel bag useful and versatile. The 32L I purchased is a good size for a weekend getaway. The stowable backpack straps help make extended carry easier. Quality materials will keep your gear dry and protected. Internal adjustable and removable divider is a helpful feature as well. I also like the stone/putty color.
I use this bag when I play on grass and beach ultimate frisbee. It repels water, closes snuggly so sand doesn’t get in, and holds a lot without it being too bulky. I’m going to take it as a carry on as well. It’s well made, has great storage dividers and fits comfortably as a backpack. I’m very happy with it.
I use this for pack for work. It fits my laptop, lunch bag, gym clothes, gym shoes, and has pockets for small storage. Before this bag I had multiple bags to pack, put in the car, bring back in the house. It was super annoying. Now everything is in ONE bag. It’s awesome!
Best airline carry-on bag ever Lots of pockets & places to put clothes & stuff Very lightweight & strong Fits the carry-on size regulation perfectly Good price compared to regular backpacks that can’t carry as much
This duffel is roomy enough to fit a few days of clothes and a pair of shoes but compact enough to use as a carry on for flying. Love the versatility of the backpack vs the carry handle.
