This REI Big Haul 30” Wheeled Duffel is the absolute best and most versatile luggage you can own. We have taken this duffel on numerous cross country (2500+ mile) road trips and air travel as checked luggage. The duffel allows some creative packing and over packing to work. There are two cinch point internally and four points externally to really compress your load without compromising the contents. Two external pockets (with a key leash) provide quick access to essentials and two internal pockets allow for quick access to accessories. Additional storage is available in the lid-another two zipper pockets. This duffel provides more storage than my hard sided 30” suitcase. The outside of the duffel will surprise you with its strength and durability. It is made with rugged, DWR ripstop nylon on the main compartment with ballistic nylon ends. Thought has been integrated into the wheels and rolling design. We have rolled this duffle over, roadways, rocks, cobblestones, dirt, mud, snow and puddles while on trips without issue. The heavy-duty oversize wheels are incorporated into a very sturdy chassis. The substantial handle extends and retracts easily and resides inside aluminum tubing within a molded plastic tub, making the back of the duffle rigid for stability. There are sturdy web haul handles (including daisy chain lash points for gear) on the front, sides and top end as well as a metal structural bar at the bottom for easy handling. Dragging luggage out of the back of a car or off the luggage carrousel at an airport frustrates most of us. This duffel has made those tasks much easier. We have tested this duffle to what would be the limit for other bags and it has survived intact and looking great. I highly recommend it for all travel.
