REI Co-op  Big Haul 34" Wheeled Duffel

This REI Big Haul 30” wheeled duffle is the absolute best and most versatile luggage you can own. We have taken this duffle on numerous cross country (2500+ mile) road trips and air travel as checked luggage. The duffle allows some creative packing and over packing to work. There are two cinch points internally and four points externally to really compress your load without compromising contents. Two external zip pockets (with a key leash) provide quick access to accessories. Additional storage is available in the lid where another two zip pockets are located. This duffle provides more storage than my 30” hard suitcase. The outside of the duffle will surprise you with its strength and durability. It is made with rugged DWR ripstop nylon on the main compartment with ballistic nylon ends. Thought has been integrated into the wheel and rolling design. We have rolled this duffle over roadways, rocks, cobblestones, dirt, mud, snow and puddles while on trips without issue. The heavy duty oversize wheels are incorporated into a very sturdy chassis. The substantial handle extends and retracts easily and resides inside aluminum tubing within a molded plastic tub, making the back of the duffle rigid for stability. There are sturdy web handles (including daisy chain lash points for gear) on the front, sides and top end as well as a metal structural bar at the bottom for easy handling. Dragging luggage out of the back of an SUV or off a luggage carrousel at an airport frustrates most of us. This duffle has made those tasks much easier. We have tested this duffle to what would be the limit for other bags and it has survived intact and looking great. I highly recommend for all your travels.

Oh man, love this bag. It was between this and the patagonia roller duffel. In the store, the REI one seemed better built. And I was also concerned about the reviews about the patagonia wheels bending outwards. Turns out my sister has one of those, and she was traveling with me. Sure enough, the wheels were badly bent. I took it on a 3 week trip to Europe. Needed to fit stuff for 2 weeks of hiking and trial running. And also for a 1 week vacation in Italy. So much room. Easy to keep things separated between my 2 trips. 1 week in the chamonix valley at 2 different spots, lots of wheeling around. Then a week in switzerland. And finally lots of wheeling on cobbles in Italy. So easy to wheel around, and really glad I didn't go with a shoulder strap big duffle. Bag held up great through being checked several times. Fabric seems to resist wear really well. Only regret is I didn't get this bag years ago.
